Re: .204 muzzle jump
My higher power scopes are usually reserved for PDs and paper.... My coyote rigs have much lower power optics... EO-Tech, 2.8-10x and 3-12x,,, http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j261/OldTurtleFiles/ARs%20-%20Small%20Size/DPMSPaint1.jpg http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j261/OldTurtleFiles/ARs%20-%20S...

Re: Working up a load
I drop down one full grain below the published max load and work up in .1gr increments... Generally my "sweet spot" will be .4-.7gr below the max listed..... I'll build ten rounds of each load, shoot five and if I have a really good group, shoot the second five to verify the first....All r...

Re: Whats your Work Up Method
When I started loading for my .204, I had a bunch of Winchester 748 powder on hand for my ARs and started out using it....I do get a difference in accuracy between standard and magnum small rifle primers in my .204s... When working up loads, I will find the bullet manufacturer's published max load a...

Re: Loading for Accuracy Vs. Velocity
I've found that my most accurate loads usually show up about .4-.7gr below published max levels...The few times I've experimented with 'hot' loads, my accuracy went way down and it tends to shorten the life of my brass, so it's generally not worth the effort... Like others, accuracy is my most impor...

Re: .204 muzzle jump
My .204 AR sports a Sightron 4-16x and I've never had a problem watching my hits...fortunately, it likes the heavier bullets and is accurate quite a ways out... I have a couple of other rifles with higher power scopes and find that I have to crank them down to about 18x to get rid of the mirage on w...

Re: loads for .204?
I don't know if you have access to the Ramshot line of powders over there, but I've found that 26.1gr of X-Terminator with the 35gr Berger works really well in my CZ .204...It burns clean and meters like water...

Re: What rangefinder for 500 yd Vermin ?
I have a Leica 1200 range finder (7x) and have found that it is almost useless when shooting Prairie Dogs at most ranges due to the mounds being so flat to the ground as there is so little reflective surface... Usually I will try to find a sizable rock or other object to gain a reasonable estimation...

Re: Brass from different manufacturers for reloading?
In my .223s, I can tell a difference in the effect of commercially available brass and military brass, but in my .204s, I can interchange the brass with no noticeable negative effect.. That being said, I still try to keep my brass segregated by brand, just due to my OCD tendency  It just seems ...

Re: New to the forum- new to the 204
Welcome to the forum,,,I load for an AR in .204 as well as a CZ and have made a practice of trying to find a load that works well in both for the sake of simplicity.. My AR has a custom cut chamber in a Douglas XX Match barrel and has worked extremely well using Winchester 748 powder with CCI magnum...

Re: Ramshot X-Terminator
I've had pretty good luck with 25.2gr and Magnum primers with the 39g SBKs.... not the max load, but accurate.. That's for a Bolt Action...My AR takes a little different combination..Sorry, seating depth is 2.24"..

Re: 32 varry good 39 needs help
You might want to try some Winchester 748 powder and CCI magnum powders with the 39gr SBKs... As said, work up slowly and I use .1gr increments when working up loads for mine... Most of my really accurate loads for any of my rifles seem to fall between .4 and .7gr below the bullet manufacturer's pub...

Re: Loading 204 for ar 15
My method for measuring neck tension is pretty much 'seat of the pants'... When I'm seating the bullet, I can feel those rounds where the bullet slides too easily into the case and I will pull the bullet and pull the decapping pin and resize the case...almost always it tightens up the neck and I've ...

Re: i think so hornady superformance, 204
While I know each rifle will exhibit different tendencies, especially in the 20 caliber arena, when the .204 was first introduced, several of us bought different brand rifles and chrono'd the factory ammo available... Hornady came out the fastest, but was still running a minimum of 100 fps slower th...

Re: Lightweight AR 204 barrell
Shortly after the .204 came out commercially, I contacted Randall Rausch at AR15Barrels.com and had him build my match grade upper... He used a Douglas XX Match stainless barrel that is still shooting strong.... He has different barrel contours listed on his website, but the last time I checked, he ...
