resizing 7mm-08 brass to .260

Post by venison_burger »

A friend of mine just bought a new Savage in .260 rem after moving out to western North Dakota. I promised to reload it for him. After committing to the .260, we see that there is a shortage of .260 brass.

To resize the 7mm-08 to .260, can I just run it through a full length resizer? Or would I want to use a collet neck resizer? Whats standard procedure for this kind of resizing?

THanks!

When I 1st got my 260 there was no brass or ammo for that matter available in stores and I resized 708 to make the 1st batch of brass for it. All that is needed is to run a 708 case in a 260 FL die.
243 brass can be necked up with a 260 die too.

BTW Midway, Graf, Widners, and MidSouth all have Nosler and Lapua brass in 260 in stock. The price may be more then the Win/Rem stuff but the quality might make it worth your while to concider.

Thanks for the info! For what he's using it for, he wasn't ready to spend >$1/piece for the norma or lapua stuff.

Anything in the 4350/R19/R17 burn range with a 120 gr bullet seems to group 5 shots in a MOA or better from my Kimber M84 or M700 @100yd. R17 gives me the best velocities by a smiggen. Niether rifle likes the heavier bullets as well as the lighter 120s or less. The 100 gr Partition is a good one to try if you want a fast deer/goat load.

Thanks. Just because they were all that was on the shelf; I started with the Sierra Matchkings 107 gr. Some seemed to shoot real good, then I will get some flyers. Have some 120gr. Sierra Game Kings; will try them and see how they do. Also have an 8lb jug of H4350, so will try to work with that.
