Well let's try this again. Hit the back button on my phone after a lengthy description. Gonna be short and sweet for now.

Second buck I jumped while pushing for my wife and son who have Doe tags this year. First buck was quite a bit bigger but couldn't get a shot due to the cattails I ran them out of. A doe and spike were with him. After 2.5 hrs of looking for the doe my wife shot or so we thought. This guy popped up and took off (he was within 80 yards of us looking for that doe).
Took me 3 shots to connect...sorry 2. The first was a miss second I heard wild ricochet and third finally connected the lungs.

This one is kinda special as it's the first big game animal (not including all the varmint calibers) where I have loaded the round myself.

I liked the shot antler! I am sure I probably clipped one somewhere along the way. Your picture could have been here in Kansas...I had a friend who is now deceased from Rosholt, SD who hunted the tri state area and taught me a lot about coyote hunting.

Way to go there, SC!

Out with your son, using an old classic rifle in a classic caliber, what's not to like? Good job sir!

Now I have to get back into the Cattails and shelter belts and thick grass to kick out a couple of does for my son and wife. Getting tired just thinking about it.

Did kick out another buck and doe out of an old abandoned farmstead on Saturday. My son got 3 shots off at the doe but nothing really prepares you for a running shot on a whitetail that's headed for more cover. Especially have never practiced that shot. Didn't connect but that's okay. We still have 2 more weekends.
