So far this season....

Deer season this year has been a little slower than past years. We didn’t see as many deer as we usually do but did manage to get a few. My son Lucas got a new bow and was wanting to get it broke in back in Oct. so he shot a button buck. He made a nice 43 yard shot on it out of my pop up blind and we got the whole thing on video.





Later on in Oct. I shot a small doe with bow and forgot to take pictures. Lucas later on connected on a nice 10 pt. again with bow.





Opening day of our first firearms season, I shot an 8 pt. in the morning and a doe in the afternoon. Lucas was holding out for a big buck, but unfortunately, it didn’t happen.








During the second season, Lucas connected on two doe with shotgun and I shot two also with my muzzle loader. We again forgot to take pictures. We still have the late winter season to go yet this weekend and it looks like it will be a cold one.

Hi Melvin & son,nice jobs done well.Not being familiar with bow hunting, (illegal here)can you explain what happens when the deer meets the stick.Does the annimal run far or are they drt? Do you need a dog when bow hunting? Thanks, Ken.

Deer will almost always run a bit after being shot with an arrow. Sometimes they run 50 yards and sometimes they run several hundred yards, so I can't really say there's a specific answer to the distance that they go. At times, I've known people to go and get a dog to help them recover a deer but that's not the norm. Usually hunters either see the deer go down or follow the blood trail to recover the deer. Hope this helps.
