Every Day Carry Piece for Bunnies?

While out at the ranch last week shooting ground squirrels with our 204's and 20 Vartargs, a very brave jackrabbit came cruising through camp at high speed, then stopped 50 yards out to look back (fateful decision).

I had my 3" Kimber Compact Rimfire conversion unit mounted on my Kimber .45 Ultra CDP, and to my amazement, nailed the bunny on the first shot. This was the first time out with the conversion.

I'm not sure who was more surprised, me or the bunny, but I was smiling, and he was certainly NOT.

To my friends there who were watching, I said "I do that all the time". Uh huh, right.

The conversion unit was loaded with CCI 40gr HP's and so far has functioned 100%. In town I carry my Ultra IWB in a Milt Sparks VM-2, and in the outback it's nice to carry it with the conversion mounted and use the same holster. Good stuff! :)

Congrats on bunny. Always good to be "familiar" with the equipment one uses. :D

Thanks. After carrying the 1911 for going on 51 years, I ought to be familiar with it by now, right?

Hey Rick,
Nice piece & good shooting!

How's that Colt Woodsman you always wanted & bought? Any bunnies with it yet?

Thanks there, Jim.

As for that Woodsman Match Target pistol recently acquired.....the answer is a flat "no". I've not even fired it yet! It's in the safe in a gun sock in pristine condition. I took it on our last two squirrel shooting adventures, but it never came out of the truck, as I was dinking about with my new Kimber Compact Rimfire Conversion most of the time.

Eventually I'll get around to dedicating some range time to her, but for now she's a solid safe-queen of the First Order! ;)
