PDogs June 11th

Post by PDogRex »

Went out to same area to shoot PDogs, started on new land with small towns, first one only saw about a dozen PDogs, whacked 4 and then moved to another new area. More PDogs out but they have been shot at and most disappeared after the first shot rang out. Got 4 there also.
Went back to my spot that I have shot at the past 3 weeks, definitely less and less each week. After shooting for about 30 minutes I decided to walk up to 2 high knolls that overlook 2 small PDog towns that I have seen driving in the past 3 weeks.
So I grabbed my CZ Varmint in .204 cal. attached my Harris bipod, my binoculars, rangefinder, shooting mat, and box of 50 rounds.
Headed to the top of the first knoll, my guesstimate is it is about 50-60 feet higher in elevation than the PDog towns. At the top I did low crawl and eventually got all set up to start “sniping” on these towns! Started picking them off one by one, when I was all done went 12 for 13! When nothing was moving or barking, packed up and moved to the next knoll to start my “sniping” from there. Went 7 for 7, so for the 2 areas was 19 of 20, :D This was the best and most enjoyable shooting I have done in long time.
The pic with the PDogs is looking back at shooting position on top of knoll, 157 yards.

Sorry should have added this. I believe the reason I was so successful from the “sniping” position was I able to get into firing position without any PDogs sounding the alarm, I heard no barking at all. Second reason is I have shot in this area for 3 weeks and after each shot the “report” would echo off the rim rocks that are about 1/2 mile away. So the PDogs I was shooting at just went about there business as normal. 8)

Great little walk-about Silverfox style.
