.204 Ruger Guns: savage walking varminter

Quattro here, probably one of the newsest members. 32, live in central Pa with my wife and the dog. Gotta few guns. Waitin on my Savage model 25 walking varminter (in .204, hence the reason I joined) to arrive and give the Remmy 22-250 a rest. Like hunting the vermin, catching the muskies and just being outdoors.

Hello,

Just joined this site!

Long time shooter and handloader. New to the .204!

I just built one from a low round count factory barrel installed onto a Savage package rifle. I converted it to the Target accutrigger (yes, I like them) and it's shooting flies now!!

I ranch in Central Washington for a living and it affords me opportunities with my first love ..... guns and ammo!!

Thank you for allowing me to enjoy your company and the great info about a great chambering!!

VIVA the .204 Ruger!!

Best regards

It is a 1.75x6 power VX-3. It's a little under powered but it's doing the trick for now. Once more funds roll my way I will probably upgrade.

Carolinablue coming at ya from NC. I'm 60 yrs old, retired on disability due to MS since 1999. Did have a Rem. 22.250 with the heavy barrel. Just getting too heavy to tote around so I went down in size to a Thompson Venture .204. At present loading and shooting 34 gr. Midway Dogtown HP bullets using Benchmark powder. Rifle handles real well and light enough for me now due to my weakness. Really appreciate this site and glad I stumbled onto it. It's just what I was looking for. Mainly a varmint hunter, crows and groundhogs, gray squirrels when I get bored. Finally got my group were I can cover with a quarter and 150 yds., 3 shots....off of a bench I must add... :D

Just registered and logged on to the forum. Bench shooter and builder at heart. BIG Savage fan!
Got a "KILLER" deal on a 16" .204 Benchmark, low round count ss barrel and a rear grip stock for a SP build. Wasn't looking for anything at the time but I ran onto this deal that I just "couldn't pass up". Figured I better grab it just in case. :D
The stock and barrel will be hooked up to my Savage Model 12 lefty action. Should make a real nice "low recoil" shooter. Figured I better find out all I could about the .204. The smallest I go (besides rimfire) is the .221 Fireball. And that's a shooter on an XP 100 action that got converted into a rifle. I'am into bench shooting. 22BR, 6BR, 6.8 BR, 6.8 SPC and whatever catches my fancy. ;) I'll be checking in "often", Mike.

Hi there kiwimonkey
I,m another 204 kiwi shooter! . Were about,s from down south are you! . I,m in Dunedin, usually do a wee bit of long range rabbit shooting round dunback , middlemach etc with my 204 , which is a ruger v/t I found on trade me, then sent it to MAE suppressor for them to fit a full over barrel suppressor , which now make for afanaticc shooting rig noise off a hv 22rimfire, plus I can see all my shots on 20 power, with 12mm groups at 100 doing 4100fps. Have you got that savage of your shooting yet!!.
