What effect does the number of grooves in a barrel have. Ie.3 groove vs 4 groove vs 6 groove etc.

I've wondered that too but I would imagine the bearing on the bullets would be different based on the number. One thing for sure in my experience is my 3, 4 and 5 groove barrels clean quicker than my 6 and 12 grove tubes.

i have a few Pacnor 3 groove barrels as well as a couple shillens and others that are 6 groove. The only real world difference i have found is cleaning seems to be a little easier with the 3 groove barrels. Other than that i can't tell any difference. Just my 2 cents
