1/10 twist barrel

Post by sakofan »

Hi
I have been in touch with a couple of gunsmiths about rebarreling my remmy varmint 204 with a pac-nor 1/11 twist barrel.
They said it would be difficult but not impossible to get a pac-nor barrel over here but could get me a border or lothar walther 1/10 twist easily enough.
Is there anyone here using one of these 1/10 twist barrels and what kind of results are you getting with the 39 and 40 grain bullets.

Hiya mate, Have you tried Neil Mckillop (Mckillop Rifles) 01189333100 he done mine for me, Pac-nor 24 inch stainless flutted 1/11 twist. I think he stocks them.

Give him a bell and see,

And let us know how you get on :)

I'm shooting a 1 in 10 twist Pac-Nor Super Match. No problems with the 39 and 40 grain bullets. Shooting 50 gr Bergers as well.

My smith can get me a good deal on a lothar walther barrel but the only twist they do are 1/10 or 1/12
I would only be using 39 and 40 grain bullets so which twist would be best.
Would I lose much velocity if I went with the 1/10 instead of the 1/12.

Go with the 1:10 if you plan to shoot 40 grainers. Most 1:12 dont do well with the 40s. That is not a very big change in twist rate considering that a 1:12 is marginal at best for the 40 grainers so I highly doubt you would have a noticeable loss in velocity. Accuracy is more important anyway.
It's hard to detect good luck, It looks so much like something you've worked hard for and earned.
