39 gr BK Update

Post by Boisblancboy »

Well went out to the range this morning to finally test the 39 gr BK'S.

I shot 12 three shot groups. 6 groups with IMR 8208 XBR and 6 groups of H4895. The H4895 out preformed the XBR in stardard deviation, extreme spread and group sizes.

The load I am probably going to settle on is 27.7 gr of H4895 which gave me 3750 fps and a group size of .260.

I'll try to get a picture posted later.

Assuming that group was not shot from a clean barrel you should try increasing your COL in .005" increments.
That vertical should quickly disappear.

It was not shot from a clean barrel. I would agree with you but this was the only group that day that strung out at all like this. Even the groups above and below .2 gr didn't do it. So I am figuring it was just me.

What Primers were you using, think i am going to pick up some H4895 and work up some loads using the 39gr SBK's..
I currently have Winchester Small Rifle & CCI 450's

Nice groups!
