First Blood for my 204

Post by Digger »

Hunted a dairy farm on Saturday, had this one and her mate come to the Fury DSG Cottontail in less than 2 minutes. She stopped at about 150yds, and I dropped her stone dead. First blood for my Ruger 77 Mk II, .204. I love this gun, super fast, no recoil, just CRACK, and she was down. It has a Timney trigger, which is set at about 2lbs, best investment you can make for your Ruger I think.

Nice shootin, and I agree that trigger replacement is crucial on those guns. Did the same to mine and it made a world of difference.
Here's to many more bloody days for your 204!

It's just tape for now, but will hopefully have a really cool paint job by the first of the year.

I'm gonna try to howl in her mate this weekend. Put out the Yote Coyote Decoy and try a female howl, any opinions?

Did you have the timney trigger installed by a gunsmith or did you DIY? I've gotta agree the trigger is the biggest downfall of the m77.

We DIY. It took a little wood work on the stock around the trigger, but nothing fancy, followed the directions, and it was great. It breaks so clean, when you're ready and you're brain says squeeze, the bullet is already gone, I love it.

Way to go. It is always exciting hunting coyotes, especially with a nice 204.
