It's not all sun and daisies out here bud....it snowed here yesterday too. You'd think that would drive the little buggers back down their holes, but noooooo, it can make for some very graphically oriented shooting. As long as the temps are fairly mild and just above freezing, they'll be out in the sun with a plug of snow next to their burrow where they pushed out.

With rifle on the bench, think of this as "Snow Painting"........ :chin:

This was a hit from a .22LR only...

Don't have a good pic, but imagine a fat rat getting smacked with a 32gr from a 204 at 200 yards.......you get the picture.

Hey, I hope you guys all get thawed out soon....spring should spring soon I'm told........(We'll see about that, right?)

Nice pics. Ric I tried to contact you to find out what suppressor you had on your 204 AR. Is it a 5.56 or a 30 cal one?

surefire: My sons Noveske AR is 5.56, and the suppressor is from GemTech.

This unit gets moved between the bolt gun and the AR.

I was out a couple weekends ago, too. Doing some load work and clay shooting when I noticed the rats had gone nuts. All I could do was send some 20-gauge their way, which isn't at all specracular, though it works. Next day I took the 204 back there and they were mostly all hiding. I obliterated 1, with just his head soaring about 6 feet up, but then the rest were gone for good.

Their holes range from 20 to a short 60 yards from that shooting spot, and I think know the difference between people just plinking in the weeds and the ones that turn eyes and fire on them.

Seems like a lot of times when you just look their way, and are in the field with a rifle, they go down right away. That's the reason we started calling them "GO DOWNS" :wall:
Just seemed to be an appropriate name for them!

Our crew calls that ability the rats have as "Reticle Radar"......

You know how it goes......you spot a rat out there around 250 yards, pivot around and get on him in your scope, and as soon as the cross-hairs find hair, the little bugger either bails down his hole, or goes into turbo-boost for 75 yards. I'm convinced that crows also have this unique ability. :chin:
