My sons first woodchuck

Post by chuckhunter »

Last summer I took my son woodchuck hunting for the first time. After many trips to the range so that he is familar with my, I mean his 17hmr he was ready for some action. He spotted him at 125yds. The woodchuck kept on going up and down, not really long enough for him to get a steady shot. Finally he stood still long enough for a shot. At first I thought he missed because the hay was so tall. When we got up there to look there he was DRT. His smile was huge! Now I have a hunting buddy. He already claimed my HMR as his.

Good job, CH! Nice shot on your sons part too, I know it won't be his last.

Now: We know you 'need' another rifle, we know you have a camera and a son with a rifle who knows how to shoot. No excuses for not posting further adventures of this deadly team and any new hardware that may be added in the future, right? :D

Congratulations to both of you. I know the feeling of sharing the hunt. Unfortunantly here in Jersey my boys can't shoot hogs with a rifle till they are 18 so I have some years to wait. Great memories and I am sure more to come. Nice shooting....
