I purchased a Savage LRH (long range hunter) in 6.5 x 284 Norma. After over 100 test shots and different powders, bullets and seating depth I was convinced it would never be better than a 2 MOA rifle.

Here is a photo of the target from my modified 6.5 x 284 Savage with bi-pod and Burris 8-32x50 scope at 100 yards with hand loads with a 140 grain Berger VLD Hollow point at 2350 fps. I'll blame that little flyer on the left on an east wind of about 3 mph.

I think this is a keeper after all. Savage delivered their Long Range Hunter rifles with a built in muzzle brake. I couldn't get much better than about a two inch spread so the local gun smith cut off the brake and machined a target crown. The attached photo is the result. I think it will do better with bench rest bags and a younger more steady shooter but since I am not shooting competition Long Range it will be more than adequate for me.
