#3 Ruger 22 Hornet

Post by dale2242 »

I have been shooting sage rats with my #3 Hornet for a number of years.
It took a lot of load development to get it shooting right.
Suddenly it is vertical stringing .
Any ideas from you folks?
Thanks....dale

I also shoot a Ruger No.3, but in 17 Ackley Hornet. It was rebarreled from a Hornet. I'm using a synthetic stock, but if your rifle still is in the wood stock with barrel band, the first thing I'd do is shoot it with and without the band installed. Sometimes the lack of pressure on the barrel to the forend makes all the difference in terms of accuracy.

Also check your stock screw through the butt stock. If it's loose, it will never shoot correctly.

Mine with it's B&C stock and Pac-Nor SS Super Match .17 cal barrel. Pure death on ground squirrels!

Good luck with your little Hornet....let us know how it shakes out. :D
