Since we've decided to post gun candy I thought I'd trot out the old hand canon. Had this for over 30 years now. There was a time in my life that only magnums could satisfy the itch. The Desert Eagle checked all my boxes.

Skipper, I'm assuming your DE is chambered in .50?
With all the fuss at present over there right now, it begs the question if the IDF carries or uses that beast in their quest to destroy Hamas. Any intel on that matter?

If deployed, I'm certain that the "effectiveness" of the DE is well regarded!

My Desert Eagle is a true made in Israel by Israel Military Industries (IMI) pistol offered by Magnum Research back in the 80's. It is a .50 Action Express (AE) magnum. I haven't really kept up with what Magnum Research has done since they started manufacturing them. Word of mouth is that the DE nowadays suffers from poor manufacturing and reliability issues. Don't know all the details about that.

I believe that the IDF Special Forces carries either the Glock 17, Glock 19 or the Jericho 914 aka Baby Eagle. Regular infantry do not carry sidearms. They are not trained for in close quarters type combat where as the Special Forces are. My DE carries the old IMI insignia, pre 2005. The Jericho 941 carries the IWI insignia (Israel Weapon Industry), post 2005. Wikipedia has lots more information.

Since the question was asked about revolvers, here is one of mine that is carried when I'm in areas frequented by large furry creatures. Not exactly an EDC, but one that will get the job done when needed. Chambered in 357 magnum.

Wheelguns in the woods? Oh yeah!

Normally it's a .44 Mag for me, usually my Smith Classic Hunter 3" unfluted cylinder, full lug. BUT when I want a .357, it's my Smith M686 4". I had it as a six incher for years, normally for coyotes out the truck window, but two years ago I wanted a four incher, did not want to pay for another M686, so when Midway had a killer deal on 4" barrels, I jumped.

It's the perfect companion to my Smith M617 10-shot four incher, same holsters too.



In it's former life, it wore that 6" barrel. Still on hand in case I want to go back for a while:



The 4" .357 Mag is a great carry revolver in anyone's book. No action yet with my 4", but there's a couple of coyotes that do not approve of my six incher whatsoever! And as you mentioned Paul, not really an EDC, but perfect for the intended task. I normally shoot my own cast bullets in my revolvers, the Keith hard-cast SWC's in all of them.

I had my local friend/smith do that. Not a job for the uneducated or unskilled if not familiar with setting a revolver up properly.

Thanks Rick. Setting up a revolver timing, and all, kinda' looks like trying to stack BB's, not an easy task for the experienced and more so for the inexperienced.

Here are a few more of my favorite carry pieces from time-to-time, the 629 is usually relegated to in the woods and the 686 is a good hip gun when out & about plinking and other such activities.

The $280 dollar 1911 has been carried by me several times and its the only factory bright-blue Springfield Armory 1911 I've ever seen. Additions are the Millet sights, a tuned skeleton trigger and a $70 BARSTO barrel. I paid less than $300 for each one of these. I'd probably have to mortgage house to get them these days.

Jim, is the extended magazine from the factory? How many rounds does it hold?

Its an aftermarket magazine and it holds 8 rounds. The mag isn't fully inserted and it has a bumper pad on the bottom.

Mondays are my pistol range day. Seniors get a discount at Range USA that I take full advantage of. Here is my Kimber Ultra Carry II and my Smith & Wesson 686 Plus getting some "paper punching" time. I like to call it trigger time. The Smith is a woods and lounge chair carry option in 357 magnum. The Kimber is a 45 Auto that used to be my concealed carry of choice. Used to be!

And not to leave out those assigned female at birth, here is what my better half carries on her while out and about. And yes, she CAN shoot it! Sig Sauer P365 XL in 9mm.

Those are really nice pistols. My law enforcement son carries one of those when off duty. I got to shoot it and was really impressed.
