Re: Cooper Varmint Extreme model 21 in 204 Ruger

Thanks for the answer, I haven't enquired any further about the twist etc, but I'd like a 204 which will shoot well with heavier bullets as they are easier to get here, as it looks like the 39 sbk's are not available anymore.. Cheers, Bob

Cooper Varmint Extreme model 21 in 204 Ruger

Hello Guys, as above there is a new one for sale in New Zealand for about $NZ 3500. It , from the factory shoots really well with 50 gr Blitzkings and benchmark. The firearm looks beautiful, but I can't really justify buying it (I can afford it). I have a Kimber 204R and it shoots very very well, bu...

Re: First 204 (wee bit different -suppressor)

To add to this post, I have a suppressor from the same manufacturer as geoff23. Difference being mine is the end barrel type. Made of stainless, screws on the end of the barrel. Barrel is standard length but was threaded about 3/4 inch when I had it fitted. At the same time I had the rifle "acc...

Re: 32's reload vs 39 factory

Thanks fellas. Guy M, I have an old Model 25 Remington in 25-20WCF that I inherited from my Dad some time ago, and 4 rounds. 4. I recently visited a Gunshop here who had a few packets of New ammo in this caliber. I bought 5 packets thinking I can reload once fired. I don't plan on using this rifle a...

32's reload vs 39 factory

I'll try and keep this short.. A little pre-amble.. I've a Kimber Varmint in 204R, and have tried several factory loads. When I first bought this rifle, I found that factory 32's didn't do well eg 5 shot grouping in around an inch and half. (Hornady). factory 40 and 45 - again Hornady seemed more co...

Re: Different varmints

What state/country? I live here in New Zealand, on the Coromandel Peninsula. Our town is a holiday centre, but supports forestry, farming and fishing. Being summer now,the gamefishing is starting to hot up, but getting out with the .204 (to me) is just as much fun. The only problem is my 55y.o. body...

Different varmints

Last Friday a friend and I went out to a local farm to help out the farmer, who had been in touch to get rid of a few turkeys. He also wanted some peacocks tidied up also, as with the turkeys, were getting too numerous. Didn't have to ask twice!! I took both my CZ17hmr and Kimber 204R. my buddy John...

Re: J.Calhoon 20

I've used (or tested) 33gr Calhoon made by HSM. I've no idea of the velocity or any other ballistic info, so may not be of much help. The HSM loading uses the "33gr Calhoon DBL HP -Double Hollow Point" (off the box). Now my .204 doesn't really like any of the factory 32gr loads, and I don'...

Re: Pics of your 204's

My Kimber Varmint .204. Pics not to good sorry. I had a top gunsmith go over it before I'd even fired this gun; lightened trigger, better bedding/floating etc. and really can't complain about anything...apart from not having enough shooting time! The suppressor cuts the sound to at least half, and a...

Re: Reloading kits

The fun aspect of it is definately a part of it. I finally have space to dedicate a room, with a cleaning bench at the one end, and a reloading bench at the other, to more enjoy the sport/pastime/obsession; call it what you will :D .There's still plenty of room betwwen so I'll be able to rig/re-rig ...

Re: Reloading kits

Skipper,( and all) that puts things in perspective, thanks. Looks like I'll have to go on and do it...but that also means I'll have to shoot more..oh darn :D :D . I also have an old Remington Model 25 slide action in 25-20WCF I inherited from my Dad,and hope to get some brass and projectiles for thi...
