Re: New bullet wishes

I’m assuming you are talking about a bullet for Coyotes.. From my experience with the .204 Ruger (15 years) and 3 different Rifles, the 35 grain Berger is the best I’ve used for a consistent Coyote Killer and being easiest on Fur. Despite its low B.C... I have tried most of the .204 bullets over the...

Re: 45 gr Hornady factory load

I've had mixed results with the 45 grain factory ammo.First 8 coyotes were bang/flops with little damage to the pelt. But the last 2 or 3 ran about 15-20 yards after they were hit with more damage to pelt than i like. The last ones were hit very well not poor shot placement or anything like that.Could...

Re: Broke in the new Ruger Hawkeye .204

Thanks guys for the kind words. Rugerdogdog, The Deep Creeks are a great place to find coyotes that's for sure. The further away from the crowds you go the better your success will be,at least from my experience that seems to be the case.Good Luck to ya,hope you get some, save a few for me though. ;) ...

Re: Broke in the new Ruger Hawkeye .204

Rugerdogdog, I wish it were Utah. Then I wouldn't have had to burn so much gas to get them.lol It is actually Nevada. We had a good hunt that's for sure.We ended up shooting 15 coyotes in 4 days of calling.Which for the area we call is better than some years and not as good as others.I'd say about av...

Re: Broke in the new Ruger Hawkeye .204

Glen, It wasn't that they didn't kill the coyotes.Because I have killed around 10 so far with the 45 grain SP's.And who knows it could have just been a fluke but the first 2 coyotes I hit on the trip were with the 45's and they would run a little ways before piling up.Not far(15-30 yrds max)and the ...

Broke in the new Ruger Hawkeye .204

Well finally got out and did some calling for a few days.Started off with the 45 grain Hornady Soft Points, but after two less than desired outcomes i went back to my ol' standby 35 grain bergers. And they definitely didn't let me down.I really love that Ruger Rifle....Good Hunting Chad http://i142.ph...

Re: Hornady 45 grainers

I have been shooting the 45 grain Hornady's this year, and I am very impressed with them.Good speed(3625 fps),great B.C(.245),shoots very flat, and penetration is very good with very little pelt damage to boot.Definitely worth a try.

Re: bought a new 204 ruger hawkeye

Nice rifle howler..I bought the same rifle a few months ago. It's quite a shooter.I really enjoy mine.I have been shooting the factory 45 grain softpoints exclusively through it and it really seems to like them. one inch groups or less with the factory ammo.I am going to work up a good load with the ...

Re: Best fur friendly factory ammo?

I have been using the Factory 45 grain SP exclusively this year.Just to see how the are on coyotes.I have had excellent results with the 35 grain bergers, but thought i would give the 45's a try this season.I have only shot a few coyoytes so far this season with the 45's but they have done an excelle...

I 've messed with different setups for alot of years, started with cheap cassette players, then went to JS E-caller(cassette)to heavy. Then to the preymaster with the cartridges.pain to carry all the cartridges, and unwinding speaker wire. Finally broke down and bought me a Foxpro fx3,lightweight,32 soun...

I am new to both this forum, and to the .204 Ruger.I have had my 204 now for a couple of months, and can say it is a real dream to shoot.Great groups, little recoil and lazer trajectorys.I have only shot some factory Hornady 32 grain bullets to date.Shot a few rabbits and pd's.But my primary interest i...
