Re: Nosler 40 gr Ballistic tips

I couldnt reproduce this when I was hunting , but it was fun on the range 400m targets , other blokes had their cannons out, 308's etc , and laughing when I pulled out my pop gun .204. Some hadnt even heard of such a small round. bit of drift in the wind , but this grouping made them sit up , just n...

Re: Test target at 100 yards 6 shots.

Very nice! And super fast! I have measured 40gn Hornady @ 3589 ft/sec out of a Tikka T3 ,22inch 1/12 twist barrel , I would assume as gn gets smaller , speed increases. What is your barrel length , 24”?

Re: Fox hunting in northern Sweden

:) thanks, dont feel bad, I never can hit a running fox, normally they will stop and look back at some point, so if you are tracking them that is the time to have a shot, I have seen vids of hunters hitting them on the run - Im not that good!

Re: Nosler 40 gr Ballistic tips

Ive got a Tikka T3 1/12" twist 22 inch barrel and using 40 grain Hornady Vmax for foxes, but have been recommended to go a bit lighter and try the 32 gn as 40gn about the limit with the 1/12 twist. Ive tried the 40 grain Noslers and very impressed as well. I am keen to try and get accurate shot...

Re: 26gn Varmint Grenades

Thanks Rick, you hitting coyotes with your 204 and what what gn u use? What is the extreme effective range and what kind of wind drift do you get ? Rogman , Bill K is spot-on in regard to bullet weight and twist. You might as well forget shooting the 50gr bullets in your 12T rifle. It would be...

Re: 26gn Varmint Grenades

:D thanks Bill I will revisit the 32gn, but will they drift more in the wind ? I have some Wiley foxes sitting out at 350yards I’m thinking if I aim at their eyes I should hit their chest? Or am I asking too much for this round? If your 1/12 twist is like most 204's, you might have success with the ...

Re: 26gn Varmint Grenades

:D thanks Bill I will revisit the 32gn, but will they drift more in the wind ? If your 1/12 twist is like most 204's, you might have success with the 40 grain, without it yawing or tumbling, but over that most heavier bullets will not work well at all. You will find the 32 and less will work the bes...
