Re: IMR 4320 in a 204?

Glenn, I use AA2460 in my 204 loads with 32 gr Hornay Vmaxes. The powder burning chart that I have has it right next to BLC2 which I have seen a lot of guys use. I had 2460 in my powder cabinet when I got my CZ a couple years ago and it digests it very well. The Ruger 77 V/T I picked up this spring ...

Re: Central Montana Prairie Dog Shoot

Thanks for the great pics. The first one reminds me alot of the place I shoot in Montana. So much so that I put it up on my monitor as wallpaper. My pd towns are about 125 miles east and south of Lewistown. I am truly envious; I only got two good days of shooting in up there this year, then the weat...

Re: R I O, Good to see you back

Rick,
Good to see your'e back up and on the mend. I really like your article in VHM. I own two 204s, and three Sakos, but don't have a 204 in a Sako...yet. Your article put a bug in me to start saving for one. Get real well soon and get back out into the varmint fields.

Re: 39 gr. sierra and H4895

Welcome to the forum from still another Iowan. Your'e on the right track. . I'm lucky that I have two 204s and both shoot 39 gr Sierras with the same load of 4895....28 grs. This might be a little stiff in some guns, but both my CZ and my Ruger shoot it with no high pressure signs. I will add that m...

Re: CO prairie rats (prelude)

Eastern Colorado...ah, the memories. First place I ever got to shoot pds about 33 years ago. We shot north of Ft Morgan on public land (missile sites). First rifle was a Sako sporter 223; it got rebarreld to 221 10 years later and still has a place on my shooting bench. My last trip pd shooting(2 we...

Re: We're goin', even if we have to swim across Iowa

Glenn, You'd be smart to take I70 across Missouri to KC and head up I29 from there. We were up in Montana 2 weeks ago and got rained out after 2 almost perfect days. There's more construction on I90 across SD than there is on I29. Pay attention when you get to Sioux Falls, they have the ramps to 90 ...

Re: Removing copper fouling - sharing the info

KG 1 and KG 12. KG1 to get the carbon out....and if I let it soak, it will take out some copper. KG 12 takes copper out, but you don't get the blue color on your patch; but it definitely gets the copper out. This past week , while shooting pds in Montana, I talked to a group of four guys that swear ...

Nobody throws as much lead or can tell about throwing lead as well as Rick. He'll be missed, but I'll look forward to his stories next season or as soon as possible. Get well soon, Rick!

Re: 39g SBK in the lands or jumping.

Both of my 204s like to shoot loads that fit the magazines. I read it right here, when I first got my CZ, that most were having good luck with loading to magazine length, so that's how I loaded my ammo and it works out well. Just acquired a Ruger 77V/T and it seems to like to shoot bullets well off ...

Yotesmoker, you're right. I should have asked, but on the other hand, I'm hoping it likes one of the loads that my 527 CZ varminter likes. Sure would simplify things.

Re: Powder lots and velocity

Got to agree with glen. Ball powders have been a problem in the past and stick powders seem pretty consistant. The one exception in ball powders for me has been AA2460 , which is real close to BLC2 in burn rate. I've used it for 15 years and every new lot shot dead on to the previous, even when I co...

AAAARRRRRGH!!!!!! :wall: :wall:  If there's anything worse than missing a deal on a 204, it's missing one for a pristine 221Fireball. If by chance something happens that WrzWaldo can't take it, put my name next on the list.
