Re: found CFE223
Just picked up a pound of CFE 223, haven’t loaded any .204 with it yet but it sounds like it’s a good powder.

Re: Ground squirrels
We are going to call this outing The Arctic Blast! But like Rick said the rats that were up were greeted by The Eastern Oregon Raptor Society and over the course of the week we got a couple of hundred of them.

Re: Ground squirrels
Those little buggers have what we call “reticle radar”. Can’t count how many times I’ve been ready to squeeze the trigger (or shot for that matter) just to have my intended target take a dive. I’ll stay on the mound for the longest time just waiting for a second chance!

I was busy blasting skippy and his pals in the field. Here’s what happened to the chuck later on.

Epic to be sure! Here’s a pic of a rock chuck that was on over watch until he foolishly came down to the field for a snack.

Yup, first Cooper was a .204, second one was a 20 VarTarg, third one was a .22 Hornet now converted to .22 K Hornet. Bury your wallet while you can!

Careful! If you hang around Rick too long you will end up like me with 3 Coopers in your safe!

Re: Scope for .204!
Hi Sam, first of all welcome to the forum! I'm sure you will love your .204, I know I do. Secondly, I'd take Hotshot's advice and contact Leuplod's customer service to see what they recommend. I shoot a Cooper .204 with a Leupold 6.5-20X with the VH Reticle but only in the daylight so I can't speak ...

Re: Leupold 6.5-20x40 AO too much for a 17 Hornet?
After I ordered my VT, while waiting for it from Cooper, I needed a scope for it. I got a flyer from Todd Kindler with one of his used Leupold scopes off,one of his test rifles. It just so happened it was the exact scope I was looking for, a VXIII AO 6.5-20 with the varmint hunter reticle. Cost, $5...

Also, if it's not concentric there is an increased risk of a baffle strike. HUGH pain in the rear if that happens! Gary
