Re: World record elk--(if you say so)
While this is not the type of hunting that I would really like to do I can't really criticize the guy to much. He defiantly spent a lot of money but he also did a lot of work to get the animal. I think we will have to trust the B & C people to make judgement. There are all different types of hun...

Re: Scope doublers
That is a really interesting item, I too would be interested in such an item if it works as claimed. My 6-18 Leopold VX-II is enough magnification for teaching Skippy to perform acrobatics, but when I am at the range I would like a little more magnification to see my bullet holes. On a good day with...

Re: pictures for the lads
Beautiful country there mate. What part of NZ are you in?? In 1999 me and a couple friends spent 5 weeks traveling the country. I really enjoyed my time in the south island the most, lots of time in the outdoors, very little in the city's. While we were on the south island we had a dairy farmer take...

Re: Useing air pressure to skin big game?
There are several youtube videos that show this method being done. Here is one..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5tYvrw3dvA You wouldn't want to wait to long before doing this, as the guts are still inside (from what I could tell anyways) while you skin in this method. However back when I was hom...

Re: The Bedding Job Was A HUGE Success
That good to hear, I plan to do my first bedding job here as soon as I get my new recoil lug in the mail. Had some decent weather at the range yesterday so went through 82 rounds and I got horizontal stringing every so often, I am hoping that a bedding treatment will stop this annoyance. What kit or...

Re: Savage LRPV 204 ?
I have a Savage Model 12 VLP in 204 (of course) and it has the varmint accutrigger on it (adjusts down to 1.5 lbs) which is probably what the rifle you are looking at has. I nearly bought a first run (2006??) LRPV and I remember it did not have the target trigger on it. I never got used to the accur...

Re: 204 BR?
Actually I just made that assumption. I guess a 204 BR could be a different chambering from the 20 BR though, I have never come accross a mention of a 204 BR. I guess the safe thing to do would be to find out what the chamber reamer dimensions are or get a chamber casting before firing it.

Re: 204 BR?
Here is a decent write up about it. They have some load data there as well. http://www.6mmbr.com/20Caliber.html#20BR If that gun has a fast twist barrel it would be a nice outfit to make use of some of the Berger 55 grain bullets avaliable now. It would be competitive at some longer ranges with much...

Re: When to anneal??
I've never had significant dimensional changes to the neck after annealing I finished annealing my trimmed cases and didn't notice any changes either so that is good to know. I am curious about how much temp difference it would take to notice a difference in case length, someday this winter when we...

Re: Consistency of Trimmer
I can usually get them all within .001 and over 95% within .0005. Actually this is pretty close to what I am seeing, maybe not 95% but definitely close. The few that I did get that were off, I blame on me not making sure that the collet and head of brass were perfectly clean. I also thought that th...

Consistency of Trimmer
I have been trimming my brass over the past few weeks, I have about 600-700 that have never been trimmed so I get a small batch done every few days. I am using a Forster trimmer which I am happy with I am just wondering what sort of consistency others are getting with this unit. As I recall there ar...

Re: First coyote with .204
Yeah the 32 grain varmint bullets are not always fur friendly, if you have a good shot and there in no exit wound its great but any exit wound will be massive. I have only shot one coyote to date and the bullet (Factory loaded 32 grain VMax) hit the spine just behind the shoulder. I had called him i...

Re: OT: Computer Question for the experts out there.....
Probably need to update codecs for the media player. I can usually figure out my own rig when I need to (I used to compete in online games like TF2) but I don't really feel confident enough to do a walk through. Depending on internet security settings you may need to update the codecs manually, of c...

Re: Varmint Hunting - What put the bug in you?
I grew up on a farm in SE Saskatchewan so I had many acres of pasture to shoot our local gopher right out the back door. I honestly don't know where I got the Gun Nut genes from cause, like any farm there were a couple guns around, but only used to get rid of predators or the occasional afternoon sp...

Re: When to anneal??
I see your point and it makes sense. Of course the whole annealing process is full on differing ideas, (I guess like all of reloading). Trying to find something definitive in reading about the different methods can seem like a dog chasing its tail. Since all my brass has been full length re sized I ...
