Re: .204 Cleaning Patch Size

If the patches are too big, snag them toward the corner with your jag instead of right in the middle and they will probably work out for you. It will save you having to cut them down.

Re: Need a scope for Savage 12FV in 204 Ruger

I highly recommend the Zeiss conquest 6.5-20x50. I have 2 of them and they are great. The light gathering is superb. Way better than my Leupy competition model. Buy a demo model from cameralandny.com.

Re: WTB: .204 Reloading Gear (everything)

Except for custom made dies by Neil Jones, made to fit my chambers cut by my own design custom made reamer by PTG. Now all my cases are sized less than .001 for concentricity and low case work hardening. My brass expires only when the primer pockets get too loose now. and the brass is interchangeabl...

I have the redding competition die set if you are interested. I'll sell it for 70% of what midway wants plus shipping.

Re: accuracy at 100 yards

Fred- My understanding of this subject came from discussions with Bryan over at benchrest central. The bullet turns into the relative wind as soon as it leaves the barrel. In a right to left condition that means it turns slightly toward the right. If it didn't slow down, it would crab straight towar...

Re: accuracy at 100 yards

Fred, I think B.C. of bullet does matter. Different bullet configurations shot at same velocity will buck the wind better depending on their B.C. ifldned You're talking apples and oranges. Doping the wind is the shooter's responsibility, not the bullet's. Provided the shooter does his part, a bulle...

Re: SUCCESS! .204 ruger on a deer. [pictures]

I use my 204 to harvest deer from my home but it is from a coaxial rest at 100 yards and the accuracy of my rifle allows an absolutely certain result. I put the bullet right between their eyes every time. They do not go anywhere but straight down. In a less certain situation, in the field, I would o...

Re: Need help with load using Benchmark and 39 grn. Sierra BK.

Beware of using loads you found on the net. I will tell you what I am shooting in my gun but be warned it is a hot load and I worked up from 10% lower. I shoot pacnor 11 twist polygonal rifled barrels at 27". I use 205M or BR4 primers. Does not seem to affect the velocity but take note of a pi...

Re: Who Needs a 26" Barrel?

Maximum velocity relative to barrel length would be affected by the burn rate of the powder and the size of the load. Some powders will throw a big flame out the end of the barrel as the powder doesn't have time to fully burn or even come close.

Re: 40 lbs IMR 8208 XBR lot 4773 for sale

After accepting an offer here I have discovered much to my chagrin that an individual cannot ship powder without jumping through some regulatory hoops. This powder is now offered only to those where a face to face is possible. I am in central Texas and could probably arrange delivery to anyplace nea...

Re: End of my rope

Can you take a picture of your rifle and rest setup and is this at 100 yards? Are you using wind flags? The shot four inches low is especially troubling. It would seem to be caused by liquid in the barrel on the first shot or a wacked scope. Have you inspected your crown with high magnification? The...

Re: hornady brass weight results

I keep records on the firings and the nosler was never fired hot. some of my ww was shot up in the high end, like around 4000 fps with a 40 grain bullet and they are starting to get loose after 7 firings. The nosler was shot down around 3800 and they are gone after two firings. It was just a test to...

Re: hornady brass weight results

I used one batch of Nosler brass and on the third loading the primers practically fell into the pockets they were so loose. I will toss it after this firing and will watch it closely for leakage when I start to use this batch. I have found no brass that I like for the 204 but mostly use ww. I'm just...
