Varminter,
Which 3200 do you have? Depending on the model some are over $400 even at Natchez. Is yours a 4-12 or 5-15 power?

Re: Bushnell 6500 Elite
Finally picked it up today. All I can say is this is one sweet scope. Very clear!! I have the 4.5-30 mill dot version. I was worried about my reticle choice thinking the dots and hair would be too thick. I was sooo wrong. Zeroing the turrets is also a breeze. Just pull up on the turret and turn,the...

Re: Dryfireing
I too use snap caps (any brand will work) for all my guns. I don't know if damage would occur without them, but for the price why take a chance? Also, with a bolt action it allows you to practice cycling the action and see and feel a "cartridge" being fed then ejected.

Re: Muzzle Brake for 7mm WSM
I had a KDF brake installed (in Scottsadale, AZ) 10 years ago and became a better shot instantly :D . The labor and parts totaled $180.00. I beleive you can still get some for under $200.00. My 9 1/4 lb 30.06 has less recoil than my friends 8 1/2 lb. .243 Win. I really like that muzzle brake. :D The...

Re: 2008 plans?
My hunting plans so far include p-dogs in 2 weeks and a cow elk hunt in Dec. I just mailed in my deer app., so it's wait and see on that. Of course I have to do the squirrel opener in October-even though we get more cottontails than limb rats, it is a lot of fun.

Very nice. Back in the 80's I had a 686 like yours. Sometimes I wish I still had it. But I sold it to purchase the 30.06 I've now used these past 20 years, so I guess it was worth it.

Nice group. That will work great on any prairie dog, woodchuck or coyote.

Re: Got my Cooper...
Wow...8 Coopers. Very lovely sight, but way too rich for my blood. And I'm excited today, because we just made out last house payment. Praise Jesus, it only took 11 years. I guess if we had made payments according to the 30 year schedule I'd have some nicer firearms on hand. Oh, well maybe someday. ...

Re: 204 bullet penetration
Thanks for posting the pics and your results. My friend and I have noticed too that the 39 Sierra and 40 V-Max are good on coyotes from 50-300 yds. The 45 gr. Hornady Spire point offers even more penetration. We have also noticed the 32's breaking up too much at 100 yds.

In addition to the County Extension office, call the CO Game/Fish. I live in AZ and have regularly called the G/F for info on various animals and they have always provided useful information.

Sweet rifle! Too rich for my checking account, but I can still appreciate a thing of superb craftsmanship.

Re: New Member
Cool! I have not even called a coyote this year  -been doing to much school work. I also have a Howa 1500. It is the Varminter Supreme with a "pepper" colored laminated Boyd stcok SS bull barrel-I love it. It shoots everything well or great. Mine had a heavy trigger, if yours does and...

Re: 39 grain and prairie dogs
I have used the 40 V-Max out to 375 yds. My friend has used the 39 Sierra out to 500 yds. and it expanded very well :D . Strange thing, but I get more "backflips" and other spectacular stuff from p-dogs with the 40 at 3650 fps, than I do with a 32 gr. at 4000. Mostly I have used the 32 gr....

Re: When in field, PLEASE be careful!!!!
I hate snakes!
Last year shooting p-dogs I kept looking around for snakes. About every 2nd shot I found myself scanning the ground around me. None of our group saw or heard any snakes-thank God.

Re: CCI 400 primers
Last year after reading the Calhoon info I bought 2000 of the CCI 450's and they work perfectly. I had been using Rem 6 1/2's. When trying BLC2 with the thinner primer I was getting pierced primers. Now, after going to the CCI 450 I never went back and tried the 29.0 to 29.5 gr of BLC2 that had pier...
