How to choose your Redding Neck-sizer bushing?

Hi Everyone, I'm just on the brink of reloading for my .223rem and .308win but I'm not quite sure how to choose the correct bushings for my Redding Type S Neck-Sizing Dies. I have lots of once-fired brass but in order to purchase the correct bushings and get reloading, I first need to load a dummy r...

Re: can target shooting start a fire?

Yeah Tracer ammo can start fires that's for sure :!: +1 for me here. Here in the UK the Ministry of Defence prevents all us civilian shooters from using Tracer (mostly .308/7.62) during the summer/autum months on their ranges as they can start fires on the dry scrubland/mors. I know why they enforce...

Re: A little help please with Hornady O.A.L. guage

Rick: Thanks for your advice and help 8) To answer your questions, Yes I did feel the head 'engage' the Lands (well, it could have been the shallow leade as you suggested earlier) before the C.O.A.L. of 2.800" but as I said, it was more than resistance rather than a proper 'fit' if you know wh...

Re: A little help please with Hornady O.A.L. guage

Rick: Thanks for the advice. ;) The gun is relatively new, not that many rounds down the tube. I did notice that the modified.308win case was a little on the tight side when chambering and closing the bolt (I did this first off before using the O.A.L gauge properly). I did as they suggested and lig...

A little help please with Hornady O.A.L. guage

Hi everyone, Firstly, I asked some of you guys a while ago if you could help me with getting started on the whole reloading thing. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice and helped me out ;) Well i've finally got all my gubbins and bits-n-bobs now all I have to do is make some ammo but i've kinda rea...

Re: A little help getting me started

Ikon Don't be afraid to try the long heavies in your 12 twist 308 if you desire. Berger recommends a 12 twist for their 190gn VLD bullet. The 190 might be a little heavy for a 308 but a 175 will stabilize easily in comparison. Thanks jo191145 , I'm gonna go through Audette's Incremental Load Develo...

Re: A little help getting me started

Hi acloco , cheers for the load advice!!! ;) Yeah I think that i'll try the 69g Sierras for the .223rem, maybe even some Lapua Scenars!?! Regarding the .308, do you not think that with a 1-12twist it may like the 155g to 168g better, it's just that i've read that the heavier and longer bullets prefe...

A little help getting me started

Hi everyone, I've been shooting for a while now, mostly targets 100-400yards and occasionally 600-1,200yards, but up till now I have been using Mil Spec rounds as it's much cheaper to buy than commercial ammo. I've been lurking around this fantastic forum for a while now and have decided that I shou...

Re: Dave's IL visit

Hi Melvin , great story and excellent pics :D

I was admiring the land you shoot on in IL, it looks very, very similar to the land around my neck of the woods in the UK, it's called Somerset.

Enjoy you next trip and I hope you get the 'two that got away' ;)

Re: Looking for a new way...

Hi hozz,

Nice purchase mate, sounds like you got a good deal there!!!

I would try a different tact from that of acloco, why not tell the missus over a nice romantic meal and a bottle of red wine and who knows....she might be supportive of your next purchase!?!?

Re: Tell us about yourself...

Hi everyone, I'm Konrad and i've been shooting since I was about 13. My family and I have always had an interest with shooting sports, the military, military history etc so for me to get into shooting was a natural progresson. I started hunting with my father shortly after receiving my first Air Rif...
