Re: Tikka T3 Lite .243Win

I haven't been to my laptop to verify, but that last post was my first time using tapatalk gor Android. Looks like the images may have posted kind of funky. I'll try and fix that if needed.

Re: Tikka T3 Lite .243Win

Oh boy... 3:30pm Was sitting around transferring stuff from my old phone to a new one, and realized I hadn't taken time to zero this .243. Weather here in SE Minnesota has been warmer than in North Dakota, but has been too windy or rainy this week to want to go out. 28 and calm, I figured I better g...

Tikka T3 Lite .243Win

Been a long time since I've been on this site due to gaining an instant family (girlfriend with kids) back in September 2010. That's over now, and after a year selling off guns to pay our bills, and not hunting in over a year, I'm working in the North Dakota oil patch, and there's coyotes everywhere...

Re: digital powder measure scale and dispensers

Yes, they can be accurate, and are easily faster than a balance scale. Keep the balance scale to compare to once in a while, because the electronic scales are more prone to heat/cold and humidity changes. I find most having problems with them only need to re-read the directions. The drop does vary o...

Pretty sure I can have the pistol grip nearly touching the bench and still drop the 20rd magazine. I can check on it for ya.

Re: magazines for .204 AR-15?

I've found the best feeding magazines in my .204 are the straight 20rd stainless steel mags from C Products with their anti-tilt follower and CS springs. I would have used 5 or 10rd mags most of the time, but these 20's have fed the best, so that's what I usually use. I do have a 10rd set up with a ...

Re: My handloads stink up the entire West Coast...

Load powder - I check the load on every third case or so. No variations so far all within .2gr. I'm a pretty novice handloader, but when you say "within .2gr"', is that +/-.2gr? Meaning a load of 27.8gr through 28.2gr is acceptable? Or, you may have meant 27.9-28.1gr. With such a light bu...

Re: 300 yd grps with my savage 12 fv

Overall, I think the 35gr Berger may be the golden formula for the .204 Ruger. Haven't read of them shooting poorly for anyone. Awesome groups!

Nosler 40gr BT loaded ammo sale

I've heard here that Nosler brass is great, but every time I look at the price it seems pretty high compared to Winchester brass. I got an email today from Nosler that they're selling the 40gr BT in loaded ammo for $19/20rds with FREE SHIPPING . That may be a good deal for anyone who wanted some Nos...

Re: Finally made it out to South Dakota last week!

The only rain was Tuesday night the 22nd. That rain made it more difficult to get around in a mini-van, but I wouldn't have needed 4wd in my Jeep. It rained so much at home the 2 weeks before this trip that I never did get my rifles zeroed at the distances I planned. I thought once we started shooti...

Finally made it out to South Dakota last week!

Well I finally made it out to South Dakota last week. It was quite a learning experience the first time out there, but in the end was worth it, and knowing what I know now, it will be fun to go back. Karl, an old friend I grew up with who now lives in Northern Minnesota, planned on meeting me out th...

Re: A gun geek's Friday night. Operation brass catcher.

If it doesn't work too well to catch brass, it might be big enough to catch mosquitoes (state bird). ;)

A gun geek's Friday night. Operation brass catcher.

If the weather reports hold to a 20% chance of rain every day next week in South Dakota, I'll probably be on my way out there Monday or Tuesday. One of the last things I was hoping to get ready for out there was a brass catcher for my AR. I have one of the UTG models I think cost $8 on sale, but I f...

Re: Range Report

Very nice! I haven't got a single group like either of those with my 1:10 Dtech yet. That's pretty awesome, especially with factory loads! That could be a consistent 600 yard PD gun with that load.

...the loads you listed were under the recommended charge weight for a 40 grain bullet Sorry, and thanks or catching that Jim. I transposed the charges from the wrong part of the same spreadsheet I had a ladder for the 50 grain Berger on. Those charge weights were for the 50 grain ladder test. I've...
