Re: 204 & Son's first hunt
Getting one for the kid to drop, awesome! Are those tsetse flies on the head of the springbok in the one picture? I've read a lot of old stories about how much of a pain in the rear they are.

Re: CO prairie dog trip
I'm picturing the spot now that would work wonderfully with that rifle holding down the bench incase a little wind should blow. The dogs seem to have had pretty good success with the size of litters around here. We have quite a few along the road to work out here and there are a few new dead ones on...

Re: CO prairie dog trip
You have to love modern technology, but what is up with no video of red mist being sprayed across the prairie to up the anticipation level? Instead it's news! How depressing, I go to get away from that sort of stuff but some people are all about punishment. HEHEHE Glad you found your corner of flat ...

Re: Wyoming Trip 5/12
Bill, that critter was shot out of pure necessity. Melvin can eat a person out of house and home. We would have had a lot more pic's of the beasts that were slain but ol Melvin kept the prairie pretty well cleaned off. He carries a set of fire irons, a small torch, a spork, and salt and pepper in hi...

Re: Varmints in Southern Africa
Now that looks like a good time! Do you hunt them only at night? If only a plane ticket were inexpensive.

Re: Fun with Skippy in 2012 Pt. 2 (The Valley of Death)
I bet that raptor would take up a collection for your fuel costs if he could. I never tire of seeing that CF on your bench, she's a beaut! Sad to hear your rat season is nearing the 'just wait until next year' phase but glad that you guys were able to get out there and do that in our great country t...

Re: Slow Around Here
Not much steady wind here, which is unusual, but I'll take it! The young prairie dogs are out playing on the mounds. That way the grass don't grow on the playing field for the 204rum guys coming out here next week. Memorial Day is notoriously wet and/or cool so hopefully we'll brake that nasty habit.

Re: CO license requirements
I would most definitely call and talk to a person from CDOW. I hunted big game there for quite a few years and they changed some portion of the regulations very consistently. I would also take the full name of the person you talk to just to have that extra piece of mind. I hope you find plenty of fu...

Re: A couple coyotes
"and I’d made up my mind I wasn’t going to shoot a coyote unless one just happen to show up." I'm sure glad you weren't packing that 20 GA slug gun then! Well, we have got a little rain that last day and a half so if it keeps this up, and the wind don't take it all away, we are going to st...

Re: Longest 204 chuck kill?
Well I have not documented distances, but I do live in a part of our great country that allows one to take shots as far away as they would like to attempt, just not at chucks. I watched this site for some time before joining to ensure it was chalked full of positive, helpful members. That is what I ...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and many of the rest of us, nice set of arms. A pretty nice back drop to house them on as well.

Re: Off Season
You are correct Clint, hard to beat a hunt with family. That was the last year my two great uncle's elk hunted. Oldest one was 81 and the other was 78 at the time. They loved oogeling over the racks and talking to the other hunters that wondered through that asked about them. Elk hunting still gets ...

Re: Finally....a break!
That is generally what we are experiencing in this neck of the woods (high plains) this time of the year. However, it has been unseasonably warm for quite some time now. Luckily work has been really dead so I've been having to take a break and go find a some willing targets. Here is the 1st one of t...

Re: Bald Eagle
What a coincidence, as we set here shooting the breeze in our office a few minutes ago we heard the sound of a lot of geese getting off the water. We went out on the steps and sure enough there was a bald eagle flying over and the geese were going in every direction. As he was going by the office th...
