Re: CZ 527 rings

I put Burris rings on mine. The CZ rings that came with mine were poorly finished and had many sharp edges.

I think my Burris rings were around 35-40 bucks. I like them a lot better than the factory rings.

Re: What kind of groups r u guys getting with factory .204s

I have the C-Z 527 Varmint. My best load so far is: 32 grain Sierra Blitz King 26.8 Benchmark Remington 7 1/2 primer. Winchester Brass I load them to the standard OAL. Average Velocity 3660 fps At 100 yards it consistently shoots in the mid to upper .3's and I have printed several 5 shot groups in t...

Clean or dirty?

Today at the range I started to notice that the dirtier the barrel got on my CZ 527 Varmint the better it shot. I spent about 3 hours firing about 60 handloads. The best two groups of the day were the last two. I always clean the bore until the patches start coming out completely white, maybe I am c...

Re: Got a load for my 204!!

Cool! I got similar results with my CZ using the 32 SBK, only I was using 27.3 Benchmark with R-P cases and R-P 7 1/2 primers. I just picked up some W-W cases but havent tried any loads yet. W-W have always been my favorite cases shooting other calibers.

Re: Seating dies?

I just got my Redding Competition seater die in the mail. Very nice! I can see right off that the tolerances are very tight. Cant wait to try it. I think my next purchase will be a Redding Type S Neck Sizer. I couldnt afford to go all in at once for a whole set, so I am going to buy it in pieces so ...

Re: OnTarget

Is this software safe? I went to run it and my computer advised not to run it because the publisher could not be verified. I dont know much about computers, but I do know that if I downloaded a virus my wife would never let me hear the end of it! :wall:

Seating dies?

I am currently using a Lee collet die set. Is there any advantage to upgrading to something like a Forester Micrometer Benchrest Seating die? Will it load more accurate ammo? I am trying to wring the last bit of accuracy possible from my .204.

Re: Dog Town Bullets

I have only Bergers and Dog Towns on hand right now. All the Dog Towns that I have measured come in at .203-slightly undersized but everyone is the same while the Bergers do measure .204. I haven't had any problems with the Dog Towns in FL sized cases and have found them to be very accurate. Certai...

Re: Dog Town Bullets

I measured them with Lyman Dial Calipers. My neck sizing die is a Lee Collet Die. I can take two cases size them both and a Dog Town will fall right down into the case, while any of the other bullet brands I have(Sierra, Nosler, Berger, Hornady) all are hard to start by hand and then seat snugly. I ...

Dog Town Bullets

I tried loading the Dog Town bullets I ordered from Midway and I am going to send them back. After a few of them dropped down into neck sized cases, I measured them with dial calipers. the 10 I measured ranged from .200" to .202". Not one of the ten measured out to .204". At $9.99 per...

Re: Getting frustrated with my CZ Varmint

I got out to shoot today and floating the barrel made a big difference. I am no longer throwing flyers like I was before and I even managed a few groups under half an inch at 100 yards. Now I feel like I need to go back and retry every load that I wrote off as inaccurate before I floated the barrel....

Re: Getting frustrated with my CZ Varmint

After I took the action out of the stock, I noticed the barrel channel was very sloppy and had several bumps hitting the barrel in various locations. I smoothed them all out. I hope this does the trick. I also give the bore a good cleaning every 35 rounds or so. I love the way this gun feels and I l...
