Re: Are newer Kimbers really that bad???

Huntsman22 my thought was that if you were going to compare the Ruger and the Kimber they would both need adjustable sights. I enjoyed your thread with the varmints and new grips. I guess I would see if I liked the sights on the Ruger and if they were set at the right point of aim then all would be ...

Re: Are newer Kimbers really that bad???

In 1999 we got back to the truck after not finding any mountail lion tracks and a friend pulls out a Kimber ultra carry. He is a doctor and has a lot of guns. He set a 12 oz coke at about 10 yards and said try it. I said I have a good handgun and I dont want to brake my arm with a midget .45 He said...

Re: I'm sorry if you live in Kalifornia

A young man from Idaho Falls took his small family on a trip to Disnyland in 2004. He pulled a small camp trailer with a 1 ton truck. He was a contractor and very use to driving a trailer and his truck was a turbo desiel so it had the power. He was driving to a trailer camp area that he had set up t...

Thanks Trent. That was exactly what I was curious about. Have you actually seen the ruger and if so what was your opinion?

Re: Ruger's new 1911 is on it's way

This is a question for you real .45 ACP shooters. My life has been spent with a 6 gun and I can hit the ground with it but I have had friends that swore by there 1911's. My old friend had a collection and I shot them once in a while but they were a different thing. They were all world war II guns an...

Re: Low Recoil & Big Distance...?

You are right and I did push a bad button. For some reason I was looking at 1500 yards. The setup Jim described drops 360 inches at 1000 yards which is about 36 minutes. Thanks

Re: Low Recoil & Big Distance...?

For a 260 Remington using a 140 gr Nosler with a muzzle velocity of 2700 fps, it has a 36" drop @ 1000 yards w/a scope zeroed @ 100 yards Can this be right. That is the flattest shooting gun on earth. My 7mm will drop about 35 inches at 500 yards zeroed at 200. My computer says this will be mo...

old style ruger all weather stock

Does anybody have an old short action all weather stock? The one that says ruger on the back and is sometimes called a canoe paddle. You either love or hate these things but I need one. For a while they were everywhere for cheap but I did not need one then.

Thanks

Re: Remington 1911

In the 1960's a neighbor of mine had a collection of .45's that was pretty neat. I was a little kid so it was over m head but he had world war II service guns that had made it back and were sold used. They were made by all sorts of companies. Ones that I think I remeber were ford and gm car companie...

Re: .308win 155 g A-Max for hunting Deer?

Hornady makes fabulous bullets. I use 7 mm 139 gr. boat tail soft points and they are outstanding on elk and deer. I have never had any need a follow up shot. I cant say the same for the famous partition bullet. My only experiance with a target bullet on big game came in the 1980's my gun loved seir...

Re: Anyone hunt the Middle Fork Zone in Idaho??

Zon, The forest service provides a travel plan that tells you where you can drive and where you cant. It costs about $10 and is a good reference. It is sometimes available for free on line. I have not spent much time on that side but I belive some of those old roads are open but not maintained. Ther...

Re: Colt: A fair deal?

Rick, That is good advice. My family only had colts and single action rugers when I was a kid. I got a near new model 19 and I was pretty happy with myself. My buddy and me were crusing on the high desert when we spotted a rabbit and set out for a shot. I left my box of shells on the floor of his da...

Re: Colt: A fair deal?

Critter, The python has a lot of delicate small parts that must all work together for that supper feeling. Not a bad thing but like a really good clock it should be respected. It should shoot for a lifetime but if it does need some work, unless you are really comfortable with what you will find insi...

Re: First Chuck of the Season and Entered the Club

Great story, thanks for sharing. Nice shot. The power line incident reminded me of an elk hunt where I really messed up sort of. It was in sept. and we would drive up to the contenental devide on an old log road. Three of us would stealth down to another drainage where the truck driver would be wait...
