Re: Mounting an Elite 6500 to a Tikka
I just brought home a spanking new Bushnell Elite, 6500 2.5-16X42 for my .204, it is beautiful!! I need rings, I like the thoughts of the Sako Optilocks because of what I have read about them so now I need to know what size rings to get to get this scope as close to the barrel as I can. I was hopin...

Re: reticle change ?
I have decided to sell this scope, as I said before it is a 6.5 x 20 vxlll long range side focus with fine cross hairs, anyone interested? make me an offer, it is like new not a scratch. I am wanting to sell it to fund another project. One thing you may consider is going to SWFA and trade it in on ...

I my have to switch it up for the next season , i have 1600 all loaded i will have to see were that gets me this year hopfully its good enough season i have to conserve. I hope to make 3 long...

Re: Primers
What primers whould I be using to load the 204? I have a few hundred small rifle CCI primers however, I have noticed many sites indicating to use magnum primers. Is the magnum primer needed or reccomended? :chin: If your loads are near max and are showing pressure signs (and not all primers exhibit...

Re: Primers
future You are right. Win primers will take you to book max in a 204. I've used about 4000 of them in 204 and 223 with no complaints. Have you ever noticed a difference between the Winchester nickle plated vs the brass primers? The reason I ask the WIN primers I've always used (and I've had good lu...

Re: 204 ruger vs 220 swift vs 22-250?
Hi Jim, you're a lucky man! I can't even see 600yds without a telescopic sight! Regards KB. ...... I'm blessed with good eyesight I guess. I'll tell ya' though, I'll never forget the 1st time I laid down @ 1000 yds with a M1 Garand. That was definetly a frustrating event, but it sure beat pul...

Re: Primers Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been thinking of switching 2 450's. I normally shoot BR-4's but i emailed cci and they replied that the br-4's are going thru engineering and will be back. I tried the 400's in my sons new rem 700 vlss .204 but when i got near max(which was far more accurate) they started blowing holes thru ...

Re: 204 ruger vs 220 swift vs 22-250?
Rick, Those 220 Swift diehards on that other form needs a dose of reality. Just a few short years ago hardly anyone used 223's in Service Rifle Competition. The M14 and to a lesser extent, the M1 (308) ruled. Look around today. The 223 is king and they're shooting 90 grain bullets and they do real g...

Re: 204 ruger vs 220 swift vs 22-250?
I made it 1/2 way thru the 2nd page on that link before I puked so I must be getting better.  I just finished reading that thread (pass the barf bag). Who ever is shooting 75 grain bullets out of a Swift, or 22-250 for that matter probably has a custom barrel. I was looking at a 22-250 &...

Re: Good Powder 4 the ar-15?
here's my results: - "Real" good luck with N135 & N540. - "Real" good luck with RE-15. - "Real" good luck with H4895. - "Fair" luck with Varget. I was looking for accuracy over velocity for 223 bullets in a competition AR-15. If temperature sensitivity isn...

Re: Breaking in a Barrel???
I get a couple of boxes of ammo and do the following: - One shot and clean routine for 10 rounds. - Two shots and clean for 10 rounds. - Two 3-shot groups, cleaning between each one. - Three 5-shot groups, cleaning between each one. Usually, most of the heavy fouling is gone after the 1st 20 rounds....

Re: Powder Question
Benchmark is theee very best powder in my 204... With 34(33?) Hornady & 39gr Sierra bullets. The 39gr sierra w/27grs of Benchmark is the most accurate of all in my rifle. RL10X comes a close 2nd with the 39gr but slightly less velocity. H4895 would be a great powder if it didn't have so many fl...

Re: The Rules of Gunfighting
Good point. I remember shooting in the dark my 1st time. I had a 4" 41 Mag loaded with H-110. It lit up the country side, not to mention, blinded me for a few seconds.
