Re: NEW HAWKEYE PREDATOR

Oh My God! Are you sure those were shot with a 204 and not with something more like a 20mm Vulcan? Those are some pretty devastating ballistics photos. They appear to be the same size as coyotes so I think my 34 grainers will work fine. By the way, yes it winter here and we are under about 3 feet of...

Re: NEW HAWKEYE PREDATOR

toyb By all means post pictures, we're all hunters here. By the way, how big are your roos that you shoot? I load 34 grain Midway Dogtown bullets but haven't had the chance to shoot anything bigger than a crow or squirrel yet and was wondering if they would work on coyotes. If you are shooting roos ...

Re: Tikka T3 Lite/Ruger M77 Mark II!

A barrel that is 6 inches shorter will significantly reduce the velocity of the round. Some guys have said anywhere from 100-200 fps per inch of barrel. I would still think the round would be traveling fast enough to get bang flops, but obviously something is different. If that is true, you could be...

34 Grain Dogtown Bullets

I have been loading these for about a year now and was wondering if anyone has any true world experience with these on northern coyotes? I haven't had the opportunity to shoot a yote yet, but they are devastating on crows and smaller ground critters. By northern coyotes I mean in the Upper Peninsula...

Re: 3rd PD hunt of the year--some graphic pics--MORE PICS ADDED

OK, somewhat of a stupid question as I have never been able to hunt PD's and I don't know that they even exist in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Anyway, what do you do with the dead ones? Leave for scavengers or predators, or something else?

Re: Wilson Case Trimmer operation question

When looking at the Wilson case trimmer, what accessories do I need? I buy the trimmer, then what about the holder and trimmer for the 204? This looks like it can get expensive pretty quickly.

Re: resize brass from other gun

Yes, remove the dacapping pin from your full length sizind die and you should be fine. This will resize the brass and not punch out the primers.

Re: Light Loads?

Thanks for the reply. I still have some Varget but I am still devleping other loads as well. I agree that one outing doesn't make a good determination, but it is a starting point. The day I was testing these loads was extremely windy and gusty and swirling winds. I was actually surprised at how tigh...

Light Loads?

I recently picked up some Dogtown bullets in 34 grain weight. I couldn't find load data for them so I used data for 35 grain Bergers that I reduced by a couple of grains and worked up. The starting load for a 35 grain Berger was 28 grains of Varget. I loaded at 26, 26.5, 27, 27.5 and 28. The most ac...

Re: Horizontal POI changes???

Not unusual. I just worked up a bunch of loads for both my 204 and my 223. Every different powder weight, with the same bullet, had a different point of impact. Some went up, some went down, left, right, whatever. The harmonics of the gun dictate where the bullet will go and each change in the load,...

Dogtown and Hornday Vmax results

The weather finnaly broke and I got to shoot some of my loads. Here are the results. I have a CZ 527 American with a Bushnell Banner 3-12 scope on it shooting off a Harris bipod at 100 yards in very windy/gusty conditions. I use two calculations: the spread - which is the farthest distance between s...

Dogtown Loads?

Anybody have any good ideas on loads for the 34 gr Dogtown HP bullets? I just picked up 500 and can't seem to find any data on any of the "powder" websites or manuals. I started with the data for a 35 grain Berger, but someone on another forum said that would be too hot and to downsize the...
