Re: Sort brass for different rifles?

Ditto what Rick said. I only have one rifle for most of the calibers I have. BUT I have 4 - 6.5 x 55mm Swedes and 3 different 45-70s - and each has their own batch of cases for use in each specific rifle. Might not believe it, but it does keep the case prep time down . . .

Re: M77 MKII Weaver Style Scope Mounts

I bought the same rifle (in 204 Ruger), used, about 4 years ago and it came with factory scope mounts from Ruger. Unless they have changed, a new or used rifle should still come with them. (Just checked Ruger's website, and they still do come with integral scope rings that mount to the receiver.) So...

Re: Ruger m77 MKII - thoughts, performance

BB - I bought one of the M77 MkII VT's used (very, very lightly) for a touch more than the $550 you can get that one for. It shoots as well as I can and I have not been disappointed. For that money it would be hard to do better IMHO.

Re: shelf life of powders

ryutzy - I'm not the "gun crank" or "technologist" that many of the guys here are, but I have not had any problems with using the older powders I have in my possession. They have all gone bang when the hammer has been dropped, but I didn't start loading my own until the early 90'...

Re: scope size recommendations

Dave, I know most will say little good about the BSA scopes, but I have no issues with them. I have a BSA 6-24 x 44mm Target model mounted on my Ruger M77MKIIVT in 204, and have been pleased with it. I also have a BSA 6-12 x 40mm mounted on a Rem 700 Classic in 6.5 x 55mm Swede, which is why I went ...

Re: Ruger M77 II Target/Varmint in 204 Ruger?

I have one of the VTs and can't complain about the quality of the rifle itself. My load development kinda hit the wall after my first couple of short sessions with it because I simply haven't got out to do any more, yet. With the first 100 or so loads, I was shooting 1/2" to 1" groups @ 10...

Re: Garmin GPS

We have a Garmin Nuvi 205 (the wife won it at a National Symposium of some type last year). I've been in the vehicle one time when we used it regularly. We traveled to Mpls-St Paul area in Jan to see our kids and new grandson. Seemed to work well for us. Got us around KC, MO and Des Moines, IA as we...

Re: Primers Available

Got to the local supply shop the other day and they had several brands and types of primers on the shelves. CCI, Remington and Federal - no Wnchesters yet. They probably had 50 or 60,000 Federal 205s. $40 per thousand for any of them, 10% off if you bought 5000. Bought one brick of the Fed 205s as I...

Re: and the results are in. (postal shoot)

Cracker,

Sincere condolences to you and your family on the loss of your mother. It is never easy to lose anyone close to you, even if you know the time is coming. Sounds as if she was at least comfortable and content in her last days. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and yours.

Re: Postal shoot targets

I have yet to shoot mine, and may do that tommorow if the weather allows it.. I have not open the targets I recieved and figured I would do that after a recieve them all. So, does that mean the "due date" for the target mailing is/was extended? If so, I will make sure I get mine shot this...

Re: Postal shoot targets

Well, don't wait for my target. I am still lucky to be able to get out of bed and a chair by myself. Back is still screwed up, better, but not right yet. I am still going to shoot the target and send it in, just cuz I said I would and I'd like to do it. Between weather, other obligations and extreme...

Re: Postal shoot targets

Cracker, As usual, I have been procrastinating . . . I've got it down to an art. Weather has been unusually unpredictable and my workload has picked up (and they want everything yesterday). Finally get a decent couple of days to shoot and I screwed up my back again. Hopefully It will straighten up (...

Re: How was everybodies day??

It's been a tough day for me, Glen. Has been every year about this time since 2001. I get madder every year. Don't think the sick feeling will ever go away.

Re: First time out with M77VT MKII

Ryan, I did not do a thorough cleaning until after I ended my shooting session, but I did run a patch or two between 5-shot groups. To be truthful, I was not shooting for the smallest groups attainable, but just trying to get the scope dialed onto a close proximity at this time. I have much load dev...

First time out with M77VT MKII

Got this rifle about 4 weeks ago and finally got to try it out. Rifle is a Ruger KM77VT MKII in 204 Ruger with a BSA 6-24x40mm target scope on top (I have had good experiences with BSA in the past, so thought I'd give another one a try and I'm cheap, so give me a break). The rifle was used (very lit...
