39gr speer tnt

has anyone tried the 39gr speer tnt on coyotes? my stash of blitzkings is getting lower so im looking at trying other stuff. The bc sucks on them at an advertised .202. Pretty much all plastic tipped 32 gr beat this but i think a heavier hp would be a better choice 300 yards and under.

brass options

Looking at getting brass for the future, choices are Winchester, norma, and nosler. nosler being more money than norma, and Winchester being cheapest. How is norma? I left out Remington. for a reason. I bought 400 originally and they were fine. This was many many years ago when the 204 first came ou...

Re: 204 ruger and vertical stringing

You were right. I tightened the front action screw tight and just snugged the back. I usually just tightened it to tight. I don't have a torque wrench so I was going by feel. Shot 15 shots at 300 yards and 14 of 15 stayed in just under 1.75 vertical. One went up an inch from the top of the group. On...

204 ruger and vertical stringing

Due to the ridiculous powder shortage in Canada I did some load development with cfe 223 as it was available. 100 yard groups were good on the hotter end of the data. 9 shots in just over half inch was the final group. Gun is a weatherby vanguard sub moa so its got the bell and Carlson varmint stock...

A lightweight walking type varmint gun. I think the 223 ai looks best for a number of reasons.

Re: 204 ruger custom reamer

Thanks rick you have answered a lot of questions. So I'll forget about the neck clearance cause I cant see myself neck turning anytime soon, maybe one day. I just checked the length of one of my rounds, 2.35, this is as long as I can go and still fit into the magazine. However not all rifles are lik...

sorry rick I spend too much time on my phone. It becomes a real hard habit to break. It wouldn't happen again.

Re: 204 ruger custom reamer

rick I know what ur saying. basically id want the freebore gone. the whole reason I went wit a 1-11 twist was to shoot the other 40 gr bullets. it still only wants the 39 bk. which im totally fine with, I love that bullet, but very hard to find them in stock up here. when they have em I clean out th...

223 vs 223 Ackley vs 22-204 vs 22-250

title says it all, I want a light walk about rifle in 22 cal, an all round gun of sorts, not really looking at a 22-250 but the other 3 seem interesting. I find it hard to get solid fps numbers on the wildcats vs the 223 and 22-250 in short 22-23 inch barrels. anyone have any real world experience? ...

Re: 204 ruger custom reamer

ok neck clearance was something I didn't think about, I don't neck turn any of my brass. will .002 overall clearance be a problem? and wat exactly is zero freebore in a 204 chamber?

204 ruger custom reamer

I have read on here in the past about guys having custom reamers made with a shorter throat, so bullets can be seated close to the lands. I guess I started this post to talk about those reamers. I would like to have one built, and wondering on some numbers. now the factory claims the freebore is to ...

Re: shot out factory barrel. need some advise

i talked to a gunsmith who has changed a few 204 barrels, he said 2500 to 300 shots and there usually done. i might try setting the barrel back an inch but its inly a 22 inch barrel to start with.
