Re: Redding Bullet Seating Micrometer #9085
For rifles that get loaded with more than one particular bullet, I have grown to love the micrometer dies. Keep good written records and changes become super-simple. I have Redding, Wilson & Wilson w/Sinclair micro-tops. They are all slightly different but, all three brands are a joy to use. For...

Re: Resized brass to a 6x45 and have a doughnut...
When you size it, you move most of the doughnut to the outside. When you fire it, the chamber moves most of it to the inside. Best, just to get rid of the excess material. Inside reamer or outside clean-up, you can get good results either way.

Thank you, Kevin. May the brass bring you many dead critters and the memories of many good days in the field! Sounds like a 'Western Blessing', don't it?

Re: Lake City .20 VT Brass
Futuretrades, please accept my apologies. My PM box was full, so I received the notification but not the message. I did some house-cleaning, there is now room for more messages. I hope typing comes easier to you than it does me. Please try again if I can answer any questions.

Re: Prairie Doggin' in God's Country
Awesome, Scott! We don't have PD's close by but, we do have sage rats, ground squirrels and rock chucks for colony shooting. Our sage rats would be the most similar to what you have going on in your pictures. You really owe it to yourself to add a 20VT to the mix! Guaranteed to put a huge grin on yo...

Re: Redding Dies
I think Brad nailed it for you. 1. Redding or Whidden, can't go wrong with either. 2. Bushing type sizer. From Redding, it would be the Type-S. 3. Micrometer top seating die. You can save time adjusting the seating die you already have by saving a dummy round with each type of bullet you use. Back t...

Re: CZ 527 in 221 Fireball. What to Do?
Rick talked me into my second 204R, and then a 20VT once upon a time. Absolutely NO regrets.
Another option for brass, although more time consuming, is to make it from Lake City 5.56/223 brass. The end result is incredibly consistent, super tough brass trimmed to your choice in OAL.

Re: .204 Ruger velocities?
I have 32 grain V-Max bullets running @ 3,925 fps and 35 grain Bergers going @ 3,850 fps according to a Beta Master Chrony. This is in a Cooper Model 21 using WW brass, RL-10X and either Federal 205M or Remington 7 1/2 primers. I know these loads are temperature sensitive and I handle them according...

Re: 204 Accuracy Potential
So do you think a 204 built on an AR platform compares??? I would not know. My opinion, based on zero first hand knowledge, is that dollar-for-dollar, the bolt guns will have the better accuracy. I have nothing against AR type firearms. Just never been interested enough to throw my money at them. O...

Re: Why no H4198 Loads?
I use H4198 in my 20 VarTarg. Never even considered it in my 204. IMHO, the burn rate for H4198, is a little on the Fast side for the 204. There are a lot of better suited powders out there for the 204. Some of which Skipper mentioned in his post. My personal choices being RE10x for the 39 grn SBK'...
