Re: Anybody shooting 45 grain Hornady's?

I loaded some 45s in my 1:12 twist Ruger K1V,and was surprised that I could easily touch the lands, and how accurate they shot.I believe the longer bearing surface accounts for this.Base to ogive is much longer than the lighter bullets.

Re: 3 card split

You got a shooting partner.More better that it is your wife. You live in the right part of the country for PD shooting.Slap on a 6.5-20x42 glass on that AR and go shooting dogs at 300yds in a 25KT crosswind.Big smiles for every hit. Most fun you can have with a rifle!

Re: Bullet Advice for Prairie Dogs

Best bang for the buck is Nosler Varmageddon 32gr HP or Polamer tip for 20cal 1:12 twist.Gone up some, but still around $13 a hundred,if you can get them.Hard to beat the 39gr SBK for bucking wind in a 204r.Most all varmint bullets will give explosive terminal results, from 3400 fps on up.

Re: annealing brass

I mount my propane bottle in my bench vice,so that the nozzle in parallel with the floor at chest level, and use a cordless screwdriver with one of CRT's tools to turn the brass in the flame.I dump them in an old square cake pan.I established the length of time with templax, and now only count to myse...

Re: Question for pd shooters...

Keith,my shooting partner uses a Harris Bipod for all his PD shooting off his buggy bench, and a rear bag w/pieces of 3/4" wood for quick elevation adjustments.I use a front rest and rear bag with the same procedure for the rear bag.None of this is as quick as I would like it.The front bag, like ...

Re: 32gr Nosler varmageddon

In my 204 ,I loaded IMR 8208 XBR 28.2gr COAL 2.350 for a K1V.Haven't Shot them on Varmints, but they are accurate, and last years field reports confirm the Mist factor.

Re: 204 brass

What about .204 Federal Brass? When I first bought mu LRPV 204,I bought a couple boxes of Federal Ammo with the 39gr SBK bullets, and got a .333 right out of the box,for gun and ammo.I used those 40 cases for load development for the next few months, with great results.I still have the brass with ove...

You can turn down the retaining cap in a universal decapping die,or buy the Sinclair adapter or others.

Re: Burn rate list

Powder lots could change enough to change the burn rate.I use a couple burn rate charts, plus loading manuals,as a place to start, and work up. from there.

Re: Lost My Shooting Buddy

My heart goes out to you.A good friend and shooting buddy is the most important "equipment"any shooter can have.Far more important than all the guns
and related equipment you may own.My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Re: Night Hogging!

I have Hogs visiting my back bird patch, and tearing it up.Haven't seen any and can only guess were they are coming from. They are nocturnal, and I'm not equiped to handle that. When it warms some,I'll give it a try at sunset and sunrise.
