I think What I'm going to try is to load some with less powder, and some with a COAL to match factory(as suggested). From reading around, more people are using less powder than more it seems.
Does anyone know the COAL of the factory SBK Federals?...I just shot all of mine.

Load question.
So here is my load. It shoots nicely, usually around 3/4 groups. which for me is good as I'm a hunter, not a bench rester. 39 GRN SBK 25 GR Reloader 10X remington 7 1/2 primers COAL is 2.300. in Hornady and Remington Brass Here's my issue, I was out yesterday testing out all of my different brands o...

Re: Hornady Brass consistency?
Well thanks for the heads up guys. I have probably 60% hornady brass. Hornady is far more popular for factory ammo around here than any other offer so that's the way it fell. Just as a very novice reloader, I'm loading 25 grains of RL10X behind a 39gr SBK so when I saw that kind of a variation in my...

Hornady Brass consistency?
I just loaded a pile of rounds. after I was done I was weighing completed rounds and I found 10 rounds that weighted in at 6-8 grains heavier than all the rest. I had a few extra cases left as I had run out of primers and ure enough one batch of Hornady brass was heavier than the others. Externally ...

Re: First time Reload
thanks guys.
I'm not really a bench rest guy, so most of my shots will be at yotes and pop cans lol. I adopted this hobby more for the mental challenge(and $$ saving) than anything else. As long as the load shoots as good as factory and is safe, I'm quite happy.
I know I know...famous last words.

First time Reload
After reading and scouring this site and a few other books for weeks I finally had some free time to sit and load some rounds for the first time. I shoot a 700 Varmint with the barrel shortened to 23".(much easier to drag around) I decided on this for my first load. 39 GRN SBK 25 GR Reloader 10...
