Re: A New 20 cal round

A long shot for me would be over 100 yards. So an extra 100 foot per second just isn't that impressive to me. I can only imagine how much extra powder is burnt for that extra 100 feet per second.

Yeah I'm cheap.

Re: Lightweight AR 204 barrell

I need to get a better shooting bench, But thus far the 26 grain varmint grenade shoots the best for me.

Don't know how they'll shoot, but I hate H335 and love H322 every time I start testing...

Re: Newbee build

Pardon me fellas... but my gas tube goes through the barrel nut.

How is it going to get loose? I am not familiar with your free float tube, so excuse me if this question seems off.

Re: Loading 204 for ar 15

How do you measure neck tension?

I use a crimp on my 223 only when the bullets are canaluvered?(??sp) for it. I have not seen any 204 made that. Just mentioning it.

I just my seating die per instruction for my 204. I don't know how to measure the tension.

Re: Ar 204 ruger with shilen 1 in 9 twist

I have friends on several boards who said the 26gr varmint grenades shoot fine in fast twists. 1:10'S that I know of pushing 4100fps out of the barrel with no issues.

Re: accuracy at 100 yards

Well I think your wrong!

Na, I'm just kidding. Good info. I did get some long heavy bullets for my 223, and was told to ignore my 100 yards results. Check groups starting at 200. I did get an explanation why, but I am thinking it is related to info in this thread. Thanks from me too.

Re: accuracy at 100 yards

Yeah, I ment if it shoots 1moa at 100(being 1 inch), it should be able to shoot inside 3inches at 300.

Re: accuracy at 100 yards

I am sorry for complicating things ya'll have almost simplified. But mathematically 1 moa at 100 is 3 moa 300. It's math. I understand that in the real world the wind changes direction and speed. But a bullet, powder, primer and rifle combination that is 1 moa at 100 that does not shoot 3 moa at 300...

Sorry to hear of the woes with your free float tube.

My yankee hill machine went on effortlessly. No third hand required.

Re: question about warm barrels and groups

I use the OCW method for finding the handloads my gun likes. The barrel gets hot using that method, but I find a round that works well under any condition. It may be more accurate with a different load under specific conditions, but you don't get to pick when you hunt. http://optimalchargeweight.emb...

Re: To build or not to build, that is the question

When I recently completed my first upper (I have built 2 lowers already), I was like...that was it?

If you do your own brakes and oil changes, and can follow instructions, you can build an AR.
