Re: i figured out my brass problem

Even with a powder/bullet load that should be ok, there are details that can push the pressure over the line. Something as simple as a neck crimp that is too heavy can do it. If the case neck and chamber pinch the bullet, you will have the same problem. I think it's odd your brass stays at 1.846&quo...

Re: Finding loads

I have had problems finding loads that will shoot 5 consistently in the .1's, .2's aren't too bad, as often as not random loads will shoot in the .3's or low .4's. I did figure out how to make mine shoot 1", I picked out the worst brass I could find for a test and loaded some extremely bad ammo...

Re: What Brass?

In my .204 brass and others that I have measured, the Winchester has been quite a bit better than Remington, dimension wise. A lot of the Remington has had the neck wall thickness vary over .0035" on the same case, while some are pretty decent. The Hornady cases I have were poor in most all reg...

Re: 10 mm

If you are having problems with the brass being ejected too far with the 10mm and especially hot 10mm loads, you should try getting a flat bottom firing stop plate fitted to the gun. It does make the slide harder to rack unless the hammer is pre-cocked, but it slows the slide down and thus the brass...

Re: Sonic Cleaner or Tumbler

Fred, How long do you run the cases when you use the steel media, and are you using any additive or detergent? Have you tried it in a vibratory tumbler? I would expect the standard light duty vibratory tumblers sold for polishing cases might not vibrate well enough with the extra weight of the wate...

Re: Sonic Cleaner or Tumbler

Industrial Vibratory finishing processes using metal or ceramic media with soap or similar compound is far too agressive for brass and is intended for deburring or precoat surface prep of steel, zinc, and non-ferrous metal parts. For cleaning and polishing of brass, all you need is a minature purpo...

Re: 32 vs 39 Grain SBK's

So far, I have never seen any indication of tumbling bullets from my Savage model 12, the photo is of a target shot with it and 32 SBK's. Out of all the powders and bullets tried, all of them shoot under 1", most under 1/2". The barrel on it is nice, I clean it just because, but there is n...

Re: Sonic Cleaner or Tumbler

Re: Avatars!

We do have that option. Most boards that allow users to upload their own have a problem with inappropriate avatars. I want this site to remain "family friendly" and it could become a management nightmare trying to police avatars. I understand your reasons, thanks for the answer. Maybe one...

Re: Avatars!

Many if not most boards have an option for users to upload their own, is there not a way to enable that on this board? It doesn't really matter to me, just wondered and thought I would ask.

Re: Brass from different manufacturers for reloading?

I have experimented a fair amount with cases that were sorted and/or uniformed in one or more ways. Uniform neck thickness, for one, makes a significant difference in my .204. As an example, just this year I sorted out cases (all Rem cases from 1 batch) with less than .001" total difference in ...
