Re: Two close and one away

I have a Savage mod 12 as well. Instead of moving towards the lands, start moving back. That's what it took to bring my groups down to .375". Some fine tweaking and I believe I can get even tighter. I don't measure OAL. I measure from the ogive. Seems to be less variation that way. Also, just n...

Re: 20 Caliber Flash Hole Debur Tool Available

Just got mine, today. Fast delivery and sweet tool. Just stick it in, spin it until you feel it stop cutting and you're done. Love the fact that it indexes on the web instead of the case mouth. Much more consistent.

Re: A few pointers needed!

I've got a tuned load using 40gr VMax bullets that I'm happy with. But my wife came across the 26gr Barns and said we should give them a try.

I put 27.7 gr of 8208 XBR behind a few. Devastating! Still haven't had time to do a full check out but at 200 yds they were spot on.

Re: What is the best way to achive fastest speed with .204?

Simple answer: Lightest bullet and lots of powder. Not sure I can get my head around your goal, though. The guys I shoot with and many in the various forums choose their loads for accuracy and accept the velocity at which that occurs. Most rifles don't shoot their best accuracy at max velocity. Give...

Re: Seating Depth Help

Hi Jake, Nope, haven't found a bullet yet that will seat and touch the lands in my Mod 12 FCV. Long throat for sure. As for seating depth, I started with factory depth and worked up a powder/primer combo that gave me the tightest groups. Then I tweaked the seating in both directions until I found a ...

Re: hard extraction

Thanks, Bill. I will. Just an aside regarding pressure. 'twas a brand new rifle when I had a bit of a scare. Punched through some primers on factory ammo. The load was 32 gr. VMax at 4200 fps. Sent batch back to Hornady along with the punched through empties. Got a call back that it was the primers....

Re: hard extraction

Thanks, Bill. But I know the bullet isn't even close to the lands. When I worked up my load, I checked to see just how far out I could seat the bullet. Haven't found one yet that will even touch them and still stay in the neck. I got to thinking more about the problem and decided to test a few round...

hard extraction

Hoping someone has an answer to this. I have a Savage Mod 12 that is giving me stiff extraction on my reloads and some factory loads. The Savage factory rep says they dimension their chambers to SAMMI mins. Checking my fired cases shows the headspace at .002 below min. Allowing for .002 spring back ...
