I'm with Glen on the single shot. My son can go through a ton of ammo if he uses a magazine fed rifle. He pulls the trigger as fast as he can cycle the bolt. With a single shot, you can teach him to make every shot count and save money on ammo at the same time.

I'm loaded and ready for my second date. I plan on taking my time and really wringing her out. Mr. Jacobs is trying to get me interested in shooting at some benchrest competitions. I need to find out what combination of powder, bullet and primer this rifle prefers, first. How are your project rifles...

If it's not sub MOA, something's wrong. Now if it's sub 1/4 MOA, I'm all ears.

I really like that African Blackwood. To me, that's the best loking of the bunch. Do you make 'em in any other exotic woods? Maybe a Tiger Maple or something with some other wild or spotted grain? O.K. how much do you sell them for? Maybe we should move over to the Swap Forum and talk some turkey.

WrzWaldo I have not read that particular article but, I am aware of barrel harmonics and nodes. This is not a subject that is discussed much on this forum. I'm not sure why because it is discussed at length on the benchrest forums. I guess it's because this is more of a hunting forum than a benchre...

contender hunter I started from the minimum load with the bullet jammed .005 into the lands and worked my way up the ladder. I don't have a strain gauge so I can't compare it to loading off the lands. I just watched for the signs of excessive pressure like before. I'm using my Chrony to be absolute...

Hutch20 There definitely is a difference with a custom barrel and chamber. I just shot my new custom rifle for the first time last weekend and it printed groups better than my XR-100 within twenty shots. It took my XR-100 a couple hundred rounds to settle down into the 3's. With the custom rifle I ...

I did an experiment with my XR-100 last year and loaded so that the bullets were touching the lands. I didn't see any measurable difference in group size. The only thing I did notice was that I only had about .063 bullet in the case neck. That's just not acceptable. I also experimented with various ...

hozz57 I'm surprised with your seated neck diameter of .225. My Norma brass is .012 out of the box. If I didn't neck turn that would be .012 + .012 + .204 = .228. I neck turn mine, because I have a tight neck (.228) chamber, to .011. That makes my loaded neck diameter .011 + .011 + .204 = .226. Thi...

NuMatthu It is possible to over cut flash holes. I chuck my tool in my drill and spin the tool until it stops vibrating. That is my signal that I have removed the burr and am taking an even amount off the flash hole. Then I lock the stop in place and proceed with the rest of the cases. When the bur...

acloco If neck thickness varies around the neck, the case will release the bullet on one side before the other. This isn't going to produce better groups. I agree that neck turning for a factory chamber probably isn't going to reduce your group size much but it sure can't hurt if your just cleaning...
