Re: Favorite Loads

i know that this is a forum for .204 users. i have been on here for some time, i have a couple of .204's. i recently purchased a new er shaw barrel for my browning 22-250. i tried some loads for this rifle with a 1:12 twist, 26" bbl starting with 33.1 grains of alliant AR COMP powder and increa...

Re: Favorite Loads

my favorite load is a 39 grain BK in front of 25 grains of H-322, 2.289 col. the best group was 4 shots into .094" that does not happen every day for me. i get good groups out of 35 grain berger hp and 30.6 grains of cfe-223

Re: Favorite Loads

i have a couple of .204 rugers, one is a savage model 12 bvss and the other is a ruger model 77 mark II. the savage really shoots! it is not uncommon to get .2" groups at 100 yards. my ruger doesn't work very good for me. i have found that winchester brass does not work well for me. i get a lot...

Re: Is all the Copper rerally out

i have a friend who is a former sniper in vietnam. he told me if i have a problem getting all the copper to use a bore mop and soak it in hoppes #9 and let it set for 24 hours then dry patch the bore and you will get a lot of blue on the patch if that doesn't do it then rinse and repeat. the first t...

Re: Fiocchi 40 grain vmax 204 ammo question.

the flash holes must be an anomaly. this is a possibility . i have never had that problem. one thing to note with fiocchi brass it usually weighs more than 100 grains as opposed to about 92-94 grains for domestic u.s. brass, just fyi.

Re: Fiocchi 40 grain vmax 204 ammo question.

savage model 12, 100 yards. from what i have read sometimes with the 39 grain sierra they have been known to disintegrate at that velocity so maybe that is why i thought it was 4 shots but for certain 3 shots went into that hole. it could very well have been 4 shots into that without leaving a trace...

Re: Fiocchi 40 grain vmax 204 ammo question.

Who cares if the flash hole is off center when it still shoots soo well. Using.204 fiocchi brass I put 4 rounds in a group that measured less than 1/10th inch.

Re: Fiocchi 40 grain vmax 204 ammo question.

with fiocchi ammo in .223 and .204 i had a fellow shooter give me 5 rounds to try out' i put the first 3 rounds into one little hole and returned the last two rounds to him and said i already know where they would go. very very good accuracy!!!

Re: Fiocchi 40 grain vmax 204 ammo question.

i bought an used t/c venture in .204. the primers were backing out a bit. my gunsmith said it could be within factory specs. (about .014) inches. i asked if he has heard of the 20 practical and he said he had built them. at riverman gunworks in coeur d'alene idaho i had it re-chambered to the .20 pr...

Re: Opinion Wolf or large dog ?

if that is a wolf track it must be pretty young. i live in north idaho and the wolf tracks here i have seen are easily twice the size of a .204 round. i have seen in fresh snow wolf tracks every bit as large as a big elk track.

Re: 39 blitzking

i am sure you couldn't go wrong by using the 40 grain load data for the .204. i have found with 39 BK that 25 grains of H-322 shoots a lot better than i can. if you can find them use rem. 7 1/2 primers you will get your best accuracy--i have tried them all and the rem's are the best

Re: Win Model 70 load aggravation

i have a .243 with a shilen bbl. using 55 grain nosler varmageddon bullets, 50 grains H-414, remington 9.5 primers. this shoots into groups well below .2 inches. i know you are wanting a deer cartridge but this might work for you somewhere else and make you happy. i would dump that 243 and own a sav...

i know that what i commented was probably out of line even tho it was said in jest. i have learned a lot from your posts on the .204 site and look forward to more of the same. it is scary to see some of the actions i witness at the gun range. most of the time when i see this happening i talk to the ...
