All - how about a standard bull barrel on a Savage? Moly or no moly on these bullets? In my 223, I can go quite a few rounds with nekkid bullets before cleaning. Use everything from 40 BT's to 69 HPBT's. I do know this, those that use moly coated bullets tend to swear by it. The other half of the sh...

jo191145 - Have you thought about an electronic bore cleaner? First, to prove to yourself....clean the barrel like you normally do. Use all of your mojo, bore scope, whatever....then...... I made one - 1/8" rod, insulated every 5-6" with small shrink wrap, rubber cone shapped stopper for t...

Skipper,
What do you use to know that you are in the right temperature range?

Excellent setup. You must have a little "McGyver" in you as well.

I LOVE to get the job done accurately, with the least expense, and with items already owned. EXCELLENT idea.

O K guys i get the drift, no lazy mans way out. I am aware of the fact that all rifles are different just thought I could find a starting point. Thanks for the info we want to stay safe. RD the 32 grain v max were hornady factory loads. Sportingly Cracker These, for the most part, are machine made....

: Except for the 25 or so holes in it!! :lmao: Maybe after 100 or so butterfly stitches that target might recover with a little bedrest. Chicken soup might help also. acloco I hope you have a heavy duty pickup for all those rounds and don't forget your cleaning rod. ;) Agree - cleaning rod is ready...

It's usually dead when the staples go thru it.    As a paper puncher I really appreciate that. As a non betting man I'll go with the 35 Berg and H-322. Your best accuracy might not be at your desired velocity though. Your gonna let a little weather age and tarnish all those loa...

Scooter, What equipment would I need to do so? The barrel is already floated behind the pressure point at the forearm of the stock, so leave that and glass bed? Or glass bed and remove it? Thanks a bunch. Bullet/case runout - in a pinch - dial indicator and v-blocks. Several companies make specific...

On your Ruger, I would actually free float the barrel AND apply bedding at the end of the stock for a touch of upward pressure.

I have ran across a couple of Ruger's that responded well to this - one was a 270 and the other was a 22-250....both with sporter barrels.

For primer pocket uniforming on the 204's....I just a 30 cal RCBS setup. The 204 neck bottoms out on top of the 30 cal bushing...so..it would be nearly the same as buying a specifice 204 uniformer. Unfortunately, Lyman does not sell a uniformer for 17's or 20's....I emailed and asked them...no..and ...

Re: first time reloader

I have a good friend that has been reloading for years and knows his stuff. He will be taking me under his wing to teach me the ropes soon, and I cant wait. Is any one willing to share their secret load for this gun and brass with the 35 gr bergers. I know all guns very and can be picky but i would...

Some other items to consider... New to you or new dies - polish the inside with a bore mop and some flitz, after degreasing (they all spray a rust inhibitor at least). Clean die. Spray inside of sizing die with Hornady One Shot, let dry. I use either Imperial or Hornady tub type lube...have yet to s...
