I have a 24" Shilen 1:9 (Heavy Barrel) on my AR and it seems to prefer the heavier projectiles like the 39grn HPs, but still groups sub MOA with the 32grn'ers

Holes should be touching @ 100 & 50 yds. The rate of twist my not be fast enough to stabilize the 40gr prjectile. Does your buddy have the 1:12 twist? Try a 32gr and see what happens....

I've used all methods mentioned above and they all work....after many years of collecting "gadgets" it gets down to personnel preference. If you have a good scope, all you need to do is get on paper on the first shot and it's an easy day from there.

I shoot the 55 gr. FBHP Varmageddon in my .223 and the 32gr in the .204......both very devistating on the critters.

- 9" for VLD bullets
- 10" for bullets up to 45 gr.
- 12" for bullets up to 39 gr.
