Re: 204 Midsouth 34grn

I finally got some Midsouth 34 grain bullets late last week. I'm loading them in new WIN brass on top of CFE223, starting at the minimum load listed on the Nosler web site and incrementing up 0.3 of a grain up to the max load listed. I'm hoping to get these to group well enough so I can shoot the 5 ...

Range finder.

I’m planning a South Dakota prairie dog hunt in June and have just begun dialing in my new Savage model 12 FV in 204R. Seeing as how the 204 will reach out quite a bit further than my 17 hmr, I’m thinking a range finder purchase would be in order. It seems like the selection of these tools is mind n...

Re: Anybody ever hunted pdogs near Rapid City, SD?

We hunt north of Rapid City, up near Mobridge. Check out this address: http://gfp.sd.gov/hunting/areas/default.aspx. It will have a link with an online public hunting atlas which lists all of the public hunting/walk in areas in the state.

Re: Swift Premier Rifle Scope

Glen, I'm a hunter education instructor & Swift offers instructors some fairly deep discounts, so I'm getting the scope right from the factory. The only down side is that instructors can only order one scope per year. Still an awesome deal though.

Re: Swift Premier Rifle Scope

Thanks Glen! The fact that you are looking for 1 or 2 more Swifts makes me feel better about my purchase.

Swift Premier Rifle Scope

Looking for opinions on the Swift Premier 6-18 x 44 scope. I have looked through one and was satisfied with the clarity but haven’t shot a rifle with one riding on it. I’m considering this scope to sit on top of a Savage model 12 FV in 204 for some prairie dog extermination.

Re: 204 Midsouth 34grn

With the powder market conditions the way they are, I was unable to find IMR 4198. I did find a pound of CFE 223, which has gotten some good commentary here and on other forums. I also picked up 100 CCI 450 primers for my initial testing. As soon as it warms up a bit here I will get to the range and...

Re: 204 Midsouth 34grn

Has anyone used these bullets on top of IMR 4198? I checked the Nosler load data for these bullets & they claim 4198 is the most accurate powder they tested for these bullets in 204 Ruger. Just wondering if Nosler is pulling my chain or there are shooters here with experience with this combinati...

Re: 204 Midsouth 34grn

Do any of you find the lower ballistic coefficient to be a limiting factor at longer (200+yard) ranges?

Re: Tell us about yourself...

I found this site when doing my research on 204 caliber rifles, I've since "squeezed the trigger" on one but have just been punching paper until my next prairie dog excursion. My name is Wes and live in Northeast Wisconsin. Our small game hunting around here is limited to squirrel, rabbit ...
