Re: Small Caliber Posted Results Shoot 2024

I would like to throw my opinion into the ring as well. If the .224 diameter bullets were to be the upper limit, the competition would include the 17 HMR, 22LR, 22 magnum as well as the 22 caliber center fire rounds. All but the 22LR are capable of holding tight groups out to 100 yards. A 22LR, in t...

Re: Small Caliber Posted Results Shoot 2024

Skipper, thank you for considering another "postal" shoot! It's been a couple of weeks since I've been on the site and am happy to see the activity on the site since my last visit!! That being said, I am all in with your proposed competition! As you might remember, I sustained a catastroph...

Re: Streaming video thread-

WesF I am going to be in that part of the world later this year. We are going to vacation up in Duluth with the idea of coming back through Indian head country. I have been all across I-94 but never north of that. Tom Kat, Wisconsin has a lot of beautiful areas to enjoy, especially up in the north ...

Re: Streaming video thread-

Our cabin is in the "sticks" of north central WI. We use T-Mobile over the air home internet. The nice thing about our internet gateway is that it's portable so it's also our internet gateway at home in east central WI. In the north woods, the speed we have is suitable to stream prime vide...

Re: Shooting bag filler material choices

Plastic resin pellets are my filler of choice for all of my shooting bags. The bags are far lighter than if they were filled with just about anything else. Plus the fact that I retired from the plastics industry and had access to large amounts of "scrap" resin pellets, I can fill shooting ...

Re: Winter wonderland

We warmed up today, a balmy 14* for a high temperature in north central WI. It's back down to zero now & should drop to about -7* by morning. Forecast for the weekend is 30* and rain. If we don't like the weather, just wait a minute, it'll change. I'm glad we have equipment to deal with the snow...

Re: What's Your Carry of Choice

I do carry my Taurus model 605 with me into the north woods in case a predator would mistake me for a snack. My Ruger Mk IV 22-45 will also accompany me into the woods during the small game season when I want to challenge myself with some up close opportunities to bring home meat for the table. Thes...

Re: What's Your Carry of Choice

I, like Bill K, refuse to inform/advertise whether I carry a concealed weapon. I know this sounds paranoid but I do have trust issues :help:.

Re: TGIF!!! Whats your weekend plans??

Well...the traditional 9 day gun deer season is in the books. Unfortunately I saw no deer to take home, antlered or antlerless. According to the Wisconsin DNR, preliminary harvest numbers were down at least 16%. A vast majority of the local hunters in my area are confirming this information saying t...

Re: TGIF!!! Whats your weekend plans??

Well...This past Sunday's range time was a success! The work on my 140gr Game King hunting load was successful using the 2nd recipe. Remington brass, Winchester large rifle primers, 40.4gr of H4895 & bullets seated to the SAAMI cartridge overall length of 3.280". I was able to hold the scop...

Re: TGIF!!! Whats your weekend plans??

My whitetail boom stick is a model 700 Remington I purchased in 1980. Prior to that I was relegated to hunting deer with a shotgun because the hunting ground I had access to was in the farmland in WI which was shotgun only. Since purchasing the Remy I've been hunting the big woods of the Chequamegon...

Re: TGIF!!! Whats your weekend plans??

Re: Future of the forum

Gentlemen, first & foremost I would like to thank Tarrin & his dad for starting this forum! Without this site I doubt that I would be as passionate about shooting this awesome caliber & pursuing "Skippy" and his friends. Unfortunately the rising costs of the shooting sports, tr...
