Re: I'm hooked!

Another neat 204 caliber wildcat is the Tactical 20. However, if I had it to do over again, it would not be of Todd Kindler's design, but that used by Greg Tannel. It really makes no sense to bump the shoulder back .010" and then fireform. Greg chambers the .204 necked .223 round full length of...

Re: Trimming brass

Any brass I've bought the past few years is all shorter than my Hornady handbook states
for "trimmed" length. Keep wondering WHY?

Re: .25-06 rem question

When necks start splitting, annealing is in order. I once got some .25-06 Remmy brass in which the necks started cracking during resizing after the first fire forming. The rest got annealed and no more cracking. Just this week I measured Hornady .204R brass. There was .005" difference at the sh...

Re: Anyone try RL7 in there .204

I actually get faster velocities out of my old Tactical 20 than my new RA Predator in
.204 with the same loads.....disappointing. Hornady says that ain't supposed to happen.

The Tac 20 barrel is Shilen mounted to an Encore, but wanted a repeater. Silly me.

Re: To bed or not to bed

Here's a slightly different method than Richard Franklin's. Photo heavy:

It involves a custom Rem ML, but can be used for most other rifles.

Re: Kudos to Ruger C.S.

Pretty narrow for me for the 5 shot challenge......load workup, getting to the range, probable more load workup, another trip to the range, getting targets, another trip to the range....all between now and the 10th to get targets back on or before the 15th. Think I'll have to pass 'til the next one,...

Anyone finding Green Dot or Blue Dot?

Anyone finding Remington or Winchester .204R brass?

Kudos to Ruger C.S.

In another thread, I mentioned having a chamber problem which required sending my Ruger American Predator .204 back, and "callcrazyas" asked that I start a new thread to explain. The best of five loads only got a 1 1/4" five shot group, the worst being about three inches. This was don...

Re: California bans all lead ammo for 2015 in new areas.

Yep, the "anti-" crowd foiled again! Thanks for the great report.

However, the 1:12 twists in my .22-250 and Tac20 will not stabilize them well
enough for good accuracy. :o(

Re: To bed or not to bed

First thing to do (and you will need to do it even if you do bed the action) is to check for clearance of the barrel in the forearm area. If the barrel touches the stock after a couple of shots, your problem is there. Take a similar sized dowel wrapped with sandpaper and sand that side of the forear...

I also have a MagnetoSpeed and love it, but I'm new to the .204 round (have
had Tac 20 for years) and would like to see more answers to the OP, PLEASE!

Re: Anyone make a bolt rifle with threaded barrel for .204 Ruger

CZ 527 American (if you can find one) comes in .204. I looked locally for a RAP in .204 and the local guys couldn't find one in their pipelines anywhere. Went to a gun show in March and one vendor had three of them in .204. Changed the tupperware over to a Boyd's Forest Camo Laminate, and it looked ...

Re: Why no H4198 Loads?

I just figured it was a tad on the fast side. I've tried quite a few different powders in 204, some that were previously mentioned but I ended up settling on Reloder 15. I know...some will say its on the slow side but outside of H4895, it has shot the best for me. I've used H4198 in the Tac20 with ...

Why no H4198 Loads?

Twenty-four grains behind a 32gr V-max is a 4100fps load in a Tactical 20, and very accurate as well. Is there some reason I'm missing that practically no one is using it in the .204 Ruger? To date (after several weeks of looking), I've found just one load using H4198 on Ammo Guide, but nothing in a...
