Re: Broke out my loading gear after years

Thanks Rick, as always a wealth of helpful info. You and a few others have contributed alot towards my confidence. My first loading attempt was a “learning experience” and in the end a positive to only use Ogive measurements. I have had a few years now to think about neck diameter, freebore, and hea...

Re: Broke out my loading gear after years

Well after many years I am happy and slightly embarrassed to say I finally loaded up some rounds for my .204. Hornady brass, 2.250 OAL (measured .015 off the lands), and ladder load of 5 each 28.5, 29, 29.5, 30, and 30.5 grains of BLC-2. I’ll hit the range this weekend.

Re: Broke out my loading gear after years

Phew I have been going back to some notes and forum posts when I first bought my gun and loading gear. Life changes kept coming up but (after 10 years!) I am finally fully setup to load some rounds this week. I ordered some more supplies from Midway but pretty much have everything I need component a...

Broke out my loading gear after years

Ok so I am committed to start loading my .204. I have a nice stockpile of 30 gr Bergers, 32 gr Vmaxes, and 39 gr SBK’s. I am looking to add some 35 gr Bergers. I have 2 unopened bottles of 10x and BLC2. My question is should I worry about the old powder? It was stored ok but it’s been on the shelf f...

Re: Is there something wrong?

It was on accurate shooter. I don't have the exact thread but the search function ought to bring it up.

Re: Is there something wrong?

I think it's a Savage issue. Bushing the bolt will fix it. I have the same gun and read on another forum about the issues. Mine doesn't do it but the guy whose gun did was worried about pressure with his reloads. Another guy gave a lengthy explanation about the Savage bolt design and machining proce...

Re: COAL

Wish I could give you some better info but I am just getting started myself. Reading whatever I can get ahold of in the mean time.

Re: pac-nor.204 match chamber

I just got the ball attachments for my mic. They are also from Starret and clip onto the flat measuring points of the mic. It really seems to allow for a precise measurement on the neck of the case. My caliper is a nice one from Home Depot but not the quality I needed for hand loading. Hence the bal...

.230 No turn chamber Lee Collet

I just bought a die set with a custom gun. The gun has a .230 No Turn Match Chamber and the Neck die I received with the gun was a Lee Collet. I know I need my finished ammo to match the guns chamber and understand the use of a bushing Redding type die to accomplish this. Will the Lee Collet Die wor...

Re: pac-nor.204 match chamber

Where do you guys measure the neck diameter on the loaded case? Do you do it where the shoulder meets the neck? Seems like that would be the widest point. You measure in the center of the neck area between the shoulder and the end of the case with a bullet seated. You are trying to determine how &q...

Re: Tell us about yourself...

Hello all. Been lurking for some time thought I should introduce myself. My name is Sam and I currently have 3 .204's including my wifes and am trying to resist another CZ 527. I am about to begin reloading and will likely have plenty of questions. I got hooked this year on a Groundhog hunt and even...
