Re: Sage Rats Still Up?

Yes, my basic web search stated they semi hibernate, and get from time to time to eat. I've noticed the squirrels are really getting plump in July, an organic farmer I do population control for said they put on water weight just prior to going down.

Re: Sage Rats Still Up?

This isn't timely or even apply to Oregon, but we shoot in Lassen and Modoc counties in NE Ca. squirrel numbers are down by early July but shooting is usually decent till about mid month. This year a friend went right at the height of a really hot spell in June and didn't fire a shot, I arrived June...

20200706_100435.jpg I'm still here shooting every day except the 4th, went to Lake City parade and BBQ, and that night went the heck and gone east of Fort Bidwell to a reservoir and watched the Buck Moon with a bunch of locals, even went to church Sunday in LC. So finally got on my favorite ranch a...

squirrels in Cedarville

Been shooting them most everyday, it took a couple of days after the hot spell for them to come back up, but they have, the trick is finding a field that's shootable. The numbers are pretty typical if not a little better for this time of year especially considering the hot weather. Had some 100 coun...

Re: Bullets and fires

On trips to visit daughter at school near San Luis Obispo saw lots of Beechey GS's/digger squirrels, thought at the time it would be fun shooting. Not as numerous as Beldens but fun and and ya don't have to tvl far to shoot'm.

Re: Bullets and fires

Yeah I understood the OP, just thought I'd give some perspective. Plus I'm bored Leupold is in Beaverton getting checked out, and apparently my barrel is getting past its prime, so I'm down for long range.

Re: Bullets and fires

I'm a little late on this topic, but here it is, at the range out of Oroville there's probably at least one fire a year there is dry grass but not real thick, but plenty of rocks so bulkeets are definitely an ignition source.

Re: still shooting Beldin's

Thanks Varmint Shooter, OK I have yours and Bill's input, I'm all packed up and haven't shot much or reloaded, but I thought I'd get input while I can. I'm not going to settle in CA. again but I will come back for the round up and to shoot with brother and friends.
