Re: .204 Barrel Life
In the tables of min - max powder loads I stay mostly about 1/3 up from the bottom. That should help, too.

.204 Barrel Life
I'm having too much fun shooting my .204. Someone asked me what I expected for barrel life. What should I expect?
I try to never let the barrel get hot and clean with patches/H9 every 25-30 rounds, copper remover once a month.

Re: Powder data needed
I have stacked 3 SBK 39's at 100 yds several times, and have even stacked 4 a couple of times, but I shoot 5-shot groups and have not gotten the 5th to cooperate yet. I've had a few 5-shot groups under .3, but never under .2 (yet!).

Re: Getting ready for my first 204 in CZ Varmint...buying the other "stuff"
These are my favorite rifle. We have two. One shoots a lot of sub-.5Moa 5-shot groups with 32-gr. SBK's, the other does the same with 39-gr. SBK's. Both do fine with the other bullet, but are true tack-drivers only with the bullet they prefer. You just have to experiment and find what your rifle rea...

Re: Long Range Shooting with the 204
I bought my 204 after spending a week watching my buddy shoot p-dogs with his .204 32-grain V-Maxes. We had calm shoots and we had very windy days. The 32-grainers were deadly and accurate out to 400 yds, and would work fine at 700 if you could hit there. Since dogs at 400 don't pay much attention t...

Re: New to reloading
As for primers, we all have our favorites, and I'll add that my absolute smallest groups have been shot with the Rem 7-1/2 and the Federal 205M. But once you find the sweet load, the very last thing you want to do then is to change primers! If you decide to try the BR-4, do know that you'll have to...

Re: New to reloading
With my 204 my magazine prevents me from getting anywhere near the lands. Doesn't seem to matter, though -- with SBK's I get good groups (average in the .4's), with both the 32's and 39's. My advice is to experiment with all the different powders in the quantities listed by Hodgdon or Lyman (or some...

Re: CCI BR4 Primers and Sierra 39 Grain Bullet
BR-4's are expensive but worth it, if I want the tightest groups possible.
