Re: It's almost time.......
I'm looking forward to the trip, I was on a PD trip in the mid 90's and enjoyed it but life got in the way so now I'm going to try and make up for lost time. Never shot at a GS but I'll be out that way, maybe I'll swing by for a trial run at 'em. LOL

Re: It's almost time.......
I'm in process of loading up my ammo for a scheduled PD trip in early June, I have 700 rds loaded for my R700 in 223, just 300 (so far) for the FV12 in 223 and about 600 for my 204R. I have to finish my seating depth test on the FV12 223 but the weather is NOT cooperating right now. Temps are warmer...

Re: Reloading Fiocchi 204R brass
I tried pulling some of the factory ammo using a enertia hammer and could not get the bullets to budge after 75 solid hits, tried the RCBS collet puller, no dice, so went with the side cutters to remove the bullets. I believe I got a box or 2 of low QC ammo, brass is ok after 2x firing but don't bot...

Re: Reloading Fiocchi 204R brass
I've reloaded Fiocchi factory ammo brass 5x times for load development, no issues once you get it fireformed to the chamber. Had several raised primers on the first firing (factory ammo), but primer pockets ok (tight) and the brass finally fireformed to the chamber.

Re: Is there something wrong?
Just to update this thread, the factory ammo in question had a couple QC issues such as short headspace on the brand new brass, several pieces of the brass are still "short" per SAAMI specs although they shoot fine for fouler loads and light powder charges. The brass did "grow" s...

I tried Varget but it's a PITA to get into the cases. Benchmark is working good for me right now in my FV12

Re: SAMMI Headspace?
The SAAMI specs I printed out are pretty clear/ledgible so:
Chamber:
1.5613 min
1.5713 max
Cartridge:
1.5645 - .0070
both measured at .330 (datum line)

Re: Hornady cases loose primer pockets on 5th reload
Grafts has some Fiocchi pull down brass right now on their website. I've used (reloaded) the empties from some factory ammo about 4x's with no issues. I would NOT buy the Fiocchi ammo as I've had backed out primers on a regular basis with factory ammo but the brass seems ok. I tried to pull the bull...
